Join me for a day in the life of a doctor where I'm learning from a dietitian and speech pathologist. I'll be joining them to assess a patient with a new stroke.

I had so much fun trying thickened fluids, barium swallow and supplements!

1:20 Meet Christina, the speech and language pathologist
5:16 Video swallow testing!
9:35 Meet Alisha, the dietitian
10:50 Trying supplements!

🌟 Did you know that 45% of people admitted to hospital are malnourished? It's a real concern, which is why these types of supplements are so crucial.

🙏 HUGE thank you to Christina and Alisha for participating in the video.

As a speech language pathologist working at a hospital, It’s refreshing to hear a MD says to “learn” from us because we certainly don’t see a lot of doctors do that 😭😭 you are the best
  • Dietitian here! Thank you for letting your Followers see how teamwork is essential for great patient outcomes!
  • You should follow an Occupational Therapist & then a Physical Therapist around for a day too!!
  • @DrAdnan
It’s cool seeing what a speech pathologist and dietician does in the hospital 👏👏

As an SLP I’m so happy you made this video! People have so many misconceptions about what we do and why we do certain things, especially MBS (videoflouros). I love how you showed a clip for people to see the swallow in action! I love my job and the medical side of this field. Hopefully she doesn’t need a PEG tube and can rehab her swallow!

As a SLP who has been working in the field for almost 25 years, I appreciate you creating this video on so many levels! I am positive that I will be sharing this video with patients and families that have dysphagia! Wonderful job!
  • OMG thank you for including dietitians! Also thanks for explaining how Dietitians and Nutritionists are different! The majority of the public don't really understand that part. It would have been really cool to see the dietitian perform the NFPE (Nutrition Focused Physical Exam) to see how she came to the conclusion that the patient was malnourished but overall it was great!

Now that I just watched the video... I have NEVER thought about the swallowing process. It just happens so naturally! I have learned so much from this video and all your other vlogs. It is very interesting to meet new doctors and learn about their work. I am mostly impressed how you make me conscious about my body and my health. Thank you for that!

I get so excited when I see that notification 😀❤️

You will be an amazing medical leader. The respect you show to the whole health care team is outstanding. And you take the position and control of a leader and listen to the others on the team. A true role model for any aspiring doctor - not just young women.

I am an Occupational Therapist. Have you considered doing a vlog with an OT and PT? Really love that you include other allied health professionals in your vlogs!!
  • I am a speech pathologist and I love that you show how our professions work together!

As an SLP in the medical setting, I so appreciate this video!!! So many people have no clue what we do! Thank you for shedding light on dysphagia! It’s such a common problem that so few know about.
  • I’m currently in my Master’s program for Speech-Language Pathology! Love watching the collaboration between you, the SLP, and the dietician! Teamwork makes the dream work!
  • @sarahslovely08
Love when coworkers participate. Shows support for what you all are doing, helping others. Thank you for these videos 😁
  • Thank you so much for stating that nutritionist and dietitians aren’t the same! I’m currently studying to become an RDN
  • @ryanjones7202
Thank you for shining light on what Dietitians actually do! I am in my clinical rotations now pursuing a career as a Crititcal Care RDN working in a clinical setting! Dietitians are licensed physicians and it was great to see us get the recognition we feel we deserve!
  • @liliachapman3224
Thank you so much for the clarification between dietitians and nutritionists! As I'm studying to be a dietitian I'm sometimes baffled by the lack of education one needs to call themself a nutritionist. This video was clear, informational, and fun to watch!!
