Polls have closed in Senegal's presidential elections.

After weeks of turmoil, voters chose from a record field of 19 candidates. But with an outright win needing more than 50 percent of the vote, a run-off election isn't being ruled out.

I love that the Sengalise realised their democratic freedoms were being quashed & they rose up together to defend them against tyraany - and they won! Whoop, whoop, go Senegal! What a shining light for self-determination from a pro-democratic country (Russians, take note!).

Indeed, Diomaye is elected as the new president of Senegal.
  • The information that your reporter gives is not accurate and doesn’t reflect the vote of the people. The Opposition is winning far more votes than ever before in the history of Senegalese elections. We are talking about 60,..% for Bassirou Diamaye Faye and not the outgoing PM. And for your questions about what the next President should need to tackle first is access to justice and economic growth on every level of the Senegalese nation, creating opportunities for the youth that is currently running away from persecution, poverty … to name a few that’s leading many of them to risk their lives on the Atlantic ocean or Mexican border for a better life - while the natural resources of Senegal is being exploited by a corrupt elite. To sum up, this is a game changing moment for the Senegalese society after a long period of turmoil against corruption, neocolonialism. We the people of Senegal, have decided to set ourselves free from all types of oppression and tyranny. We are a Sovereign Nation 🇸🇳. FPR

Macky Sall is the biggest threat to Senegal's stability and democracy, like so many dictators, he will try everything to cling onto power. The Senegalese people have paid a high price for their much envied democracy and peace, let no one try to derail it, time to vote Sall out, for good.
