One year on a Northwoods portage

Published 2023-04-07
Check out the amazing diversity of wildlife that used this old canoe portage over a 1 year period! Just a warning: there are a LOT of otters! So, as we have said before, if you like otters, you are in luck... and if you don’t like otters, get help!

In total, we captured 756 videos of wildlife totaling 4.2 hours of footage on this camera during this period (technically 1.25 years). But we went through and selected the best footage as we suspected no one wanted to watch a 4 hour video!

Anyway, this is our 4th installment of our “One year on a…” series. We hope you enjoy it and will be curious to hear what your favorite parts of the video are!

We want to thank the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund for their continued support of our project, which allows us to capture footage like this and share with everyone!

  • You are very blessed, to have this in Minnesota. I wonder if the people who live around there , don't realize how precious it is. To see deer roaming in their backyards, or to have a mama bear and cubs passing by. We should be taking kids on nature hikes. ... not buying them designer sneakers and video games . Some people just don't get what's important. This is important. Thank you for posting.

Stunning array of animals. The wolves are so curious!
  • It's so beautiful to see wildlife just being free. Unlike some parts of the states who just build and build until our precious wildlife habitats have no place to go . Thank you for beautiful pictures. ❤

In such a destructive, selfish and insane world, it's wonderful to see how Wildlife continues in its fight for survival! Congratulations to those who work for the benefit of the Environment! Mother Nature Thanks You!
  • Fantastic video!! 👍That camera placement was perfect, and caught a lot of up-close (bear and wolf) face-shots.
