I have lost so many people who I loved dearly, even my little dog. It's hurts so bad. Severe depression has set in. I can only feel numbness locked up in my house, alone for months. Sometimes I would dream, fantasize about being good, devoting my life to God. The guilt of turning on God was a constant burden. Last night I went to confession. It was a simple confession with just the necessary details. The priest was not told of the above details of my situation. The priest basically said, that I need to get out my house. That I need stop dreaming and start doing. He said no matter what, I had to darken the door of the church. He told me I'm not alone in my suffering and very convincingly told me how much Jesus loves me. I am still amazed by what the priest said. Last night, God spoke to me through that. My is faith renewed. I asked and received. Praised be God.

In his younger days he was Priest at a London parish church. There was a well known celebrity a music hall beauty with many lovers and plenty of all the good things. Yet she was almost suicidal with self-disgust. She came into Sheen's church and said she was a lapsed Catholic and just wanted to talk to him. She said "Just one thing, don't say a WORD about confession'. He was leaving and arranged to meet her the next day, walked her through the church to his office and then gently pushed her through the open door of a confessional. She confessed and confessed and confessed. She later became religious sister.

  • In '64 I sent my allowance of $2.34 to Bishop Sheen for the Pagan Babies. (Older folks will remember Pagan Babies charities). He wrote such a lovely note back to me (which I still have). He told me the Recording Angel cherishes my gift and will write it in a heavenly book.
  • Words like this puts one back on the narrow road to salvation. God bless everyone on this Good Friday of Lent 2024! May God grant us all a correction of conscience.

"Wasted pain" what a word of wisdom! Our world is pushing away value of suffering, seeing it only as an evil, undeserved experience. Nobody wants to talk about suffering as a grace to become closer to Jesus, as a sacrifice for sins, as a way to help souls in the purgatory. Yes, as a nurse, I see a lot of wasted suffering.

Bishop Sheen please pray for us from heaven in Jesus name who died for our sins.

To think that this is what used to constitute prime time, award winning television. We are SO, SO steeped in so much sin, and most cannot even see it. What used to be common knowledge to all Catholics is now unknown to most of them. The Church is suffering Her Passion, and Christ is watching to see what role we each choose to take.
  • This sermon changed my whole attitude towards life at a time when I am mourning on the sudden demise of my beloved wife.God spoke to me through Bishop Sheen! How timely it is! Feel greatly relived!Praise be to God The Father Almighty! Greetings from Colombo Sri Lanka with love for all the people of good will!🙋😇👍🌹🌹🌹
  • A great man of God who dedicated his life till his last breath, the secret was his daily holy hour
  • I'm not Catholic but Bishop Sheen was clearly a wise and holy man. His ability to speak to people in a common sense and logical way that is accessible to all people that care to listen and hear him place him among the great speakers of Christianity.
  • Bishop Sheen masterfully takes us to Jesus Crucifixion and as we are there, it pierces you to your core. Thank you Lord for giving us Fulton J. Sheen who was instrumental in getting thousands of us to follow Jesus. Juanita Ortega

One of the greatest evangelists of the 20th century. His weekly show, Life is Worth Living, ran for 13 seasons.
  • This preacher use to scare me to death as a child. But he became an acquired and loved presence. One of the last things Bishop Sheen said on public television was,"It's gonna get worse!"
  • I share the same birthday with this great man of God. I pray that I can have a fraction of his wisdom and faith.
