When the United States of America was founded, the ideals of freedom and equality did not apply to all people. These are the stories of the brave Americans who fought to right the nation’s wrongs and enshrine the values we hold most dear into the Constitution — with liberty and justice for all. Executive produced and hosted by Will Smith.

After decades of setbacks, the struggle for same-sex marriage equality culminates in an Ohio couple's case taken up by the Supreme Court in 2015.

It makes me so happy that gay marriage is legal, but then I get really sad when I remember that it was only legalized 6 years ago, far later than it should have been legalized.

Ed Kemper (Yes that Ed Kemper) was one of the first men to sit with gay men dying of aids in the prison hospice, and give them comfort at the ends of their lives. I still don't know why to this day. Maybe he feels what it's like to be hated for what you are, to be outcast, to be different? Maybe he just has no fear of anything except his dreadful mother. Kemper is a treasure for what he's done for the fbi, behavioural science, the blind, and people in pain after his life of causing pain.
