*CORRECTION: The costume designer for this movie was LINDA Muir, not Lisa Muir. My apologies!* Also, probably should've counted the twins. My bad!

Thomasin: I'm not a witch her mother:that's exactly what a witch would say
  • I love the irony that all the false accusations of her being a witch eventually drive the girl to actually become a witch
  • I love how Eggers is convicted to making everything so historically accurate, that he has stated that he still hates that every time he sees this film, he notices Joy’s earring holes.
  • “But maybe she’s a nice witch?” (Witch starts manically laughing) “No, that’s a mean witch laugh!”
  • @Mooshkajoe
Some of the most talented child actors I've ever seen.

Summary: Everyone: "SHE'S A WITCH!!! " Her: "I'm not a witch!! " Everyone :"Yes you ARE" Her: "Fine then, I'll be a god dam witch"
  • The kids literally singing worship chants about black Phillip going unnoticed is one of the most missed red flags ever

"Black phillip did not care that i wanted to make the movie, and i respect it." i do respect the goat as well
  • @xanderfoley6641
William death is sad because he understands or at least tries to understand his children instead of immediately turning on them like the mother. He’s probably one of the best characters in the film.
  • @Bambuzzsprosse
Harvey Scrimshaw was 14 when he played that death-scene. I still cannot believe what an outstanding performance it was. Jaw-dropping.

I love how James doesn't just jump from kill to kill but instead he gives us a rundown of the movie and gives us puns and the weird one-liners
  • @HuggiMa
    "They're goats." I love her.

Black phillip talking was legit creepy, it was just unsettling how it literally felt like he was talking into your mind with the soft yet uninterrupted tone of voice.

The tickle fight was pure The thing to realize about this movie is how big the theme “Sins of the father” plays in it , the whole reason he’s even looking at his sister is cause she’s the only girl around that is close to his age thanks to his father , he is confused , but does push against this confusion well, to me the tickle fight was him overcoming and falling back into the more natural feelings of the relationship they have as siblings Also the father refusing to kill Philip wasn’t just him “giving up” it was more than that , it was him refusing to allow Phillip to corrupt him in full and bring the primal violence from him, it was him refusing to let Philip make him kill him, he threw the axe down and accepted his fate , perhaps redeeming himself in doing so

something i thought was interesting about this movie is that when they showed the rotting corn and the fields, they were conscientious to show forms of ergot, which induces hallucinations, so the whole thing could have been in the family's heads.

I remember watching this and being so horrified that a baby was the first victim...
