  • As a black man in nyc trying to move to Portland, I asked one of my friends from Portland why do you guys love hiking so much? He told me he didn’t get it as well at first too (he’s from Idaho) but when he visited “Crater Lake” he said it change him and he’s never ask why again and never will. So I guess it’s about the journey, health benefits, and what you potentially could be hiking towards that make it worth it. One thing is for sure, I now really want to visit crater lake.
  • I'm going to be moving to the Portland area from California on the 1st of April. I'm really excited and hopefully. I'll be able to find success in the server industry as well as food. Thank you so very much for the information
  • As a black man for myself I wanted to move there I'm 23 and I'm in my career for engineering and I was looking for day in the life of Portland I kept scrolling and scrolling and then I just ran across your video you have gained a subscriber and hopefully when I move there I think your chill to hang around. Thx brodie
  • @Ropdxwa
Greetings buddy. Your Uber driver from last night. Cool video about Portland. Very real
  • So much beauty in Oregon. The tents ohhhh my. I wonder how camping is.
  • I grew up on the Oregon Coast and moved to Portland in '99. How early Portland closes for the most part has been a struggle. When I visited NY and Toronto I was like, everything is available all the time! This is great! Most restaurants in PDX close at 9pm on weekdays which is a bummer if you want late, late? Late night eats past 10pm. The geographic beauty of the region will always be a draw for a lot of people. This Portlander doesn't have a Subaru but a Honda. I do have a dog....and a horse. I have Nike ACGs and Converse All Star (Bugs Bunny furry edition for his 80th bday), Cool vid! Blessed adventures to where your life takes you!
  • I lived in Portland for about 10 years and you nailed it! Moved back east in 2018. But I miss it sometimes. People have dogs cuz they bark. They bark when your bike is stolen or when someone has mistaken your package on the porch for theirs. Weed stores and food trucks are mostly superb. IMHO Nice vid and thank you for entertaining me. BTW who IS Amine?
  • @Ecasta96
"then you got the healthy stuff" shows a picture of literal grass lmfao
  • @hdiverson
Awesome vid! I know we’d all love to hear another update since you’ve been there for an extra year or so since this video was uploaded.
  • Love how honest you are in this, we’re thinking about moving to Portland but I’m honestly not too excited about it, I feel very uneasy in any space where I don’t see people that look like me and also thank you for addressing that poc comment and saying I’m black, I hate when people say poc, this is not the 60’s.
  • "Yes, everywhere in the country is expensive.. all landlords should go to jail..." 😭👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💀💀💀
  • Great content Bro.. I'm a tech Bro.. Hiking is an IT person's safe space. It gets us active, moving, with less stress than lifting, with more fun. Our backs, knees, hips, are dying for us to move
  • Thank you !!! I am getting transferred for work and my husband and I were concerned. He is black and I am Latina and so many people have told us that there are no people of color. We are taking a trip this month to check it out like you said, wish us luck
  • @hyzos511
Moved from there and only reason I go is for family. While I’m there I will only go hiking or to the beach
  • I moved to Portland in 96 for my job in Lake Oswego/Tualatin. My Lord!!! I was the only Black guy at my job and Lake Oswego too. I lived in Portland for 4 years. During the summer months, I would go to Cannon Beach and spend 2 weekends a month there at the Tolovano Inn. I'm originally from New York(Queens) so I would go to Seattle when the Yankees were in town. Not many hangout spots after 1am..I didn't like that.
  • Great and honest video! Queens born & raised, but lived in CT, NC & NJ. I visited Portland in 2021 and it was nice, but my group definitely felt like the only Black & Latine people there 😅 The homeless population was bigger than we thought & very vanilla, it was an experience. Thinking about a move to Portland next year, since it’s cheaper to live there than in L.A., Santa Monica or San Francisco. Any areas in Portland you recommend? Or to avoid? Downtown, Slabtown, etc?
  • @gR22401
“There is no sales tax here.” Unless they changed things recently, there is absolutely a food and beverage tax that goes to the parks.
  • I’m a Black teen from Atlanta who’s interested in moving to Portland in the future. I’ve heard it’s tech hub especially for the tech industry.
  • Glad I stumbled across this video. I moved up here about 18 months ago after living in SF for 20+ years. One of our biggest complaints (other than the junkies) is also how early so many restaurants close. I live & work close to downtown, so I’m fortunate enough to be able to walk to work, but even if I had to drive I wouldn’t wa to to leave my Subaru (😂) downtown. Where is Amine?
