Google led me here. I'm snowed in and began thinking of that old PSA "I want to watch the sun come up another 50 years." Even though the. ending was so sad, I'd really love to hear that song again. It was hauntingly beautiful. If anyone finds it, please message me? Thanks!

I'm with you Sweettrt. I was six when that commercial was running and my parents tried to explain that Janie was a "metaphor" for drunk driving. I have never been able to find it on the internet and it's the PSA I remember the hallway. It was very haunting.

OMG... I will be 52 this month and this commercial has never left my mind. I was sitting here humming it and thought I'd see if it was on Youtube. For some reason I thought it was for cancer.... It was so long ago I can't remember now. I hope someone finds it!

I was in Venice for the first time three weeks ago (at age 57) and I thought of Janey (I think it was Janey) from that PSA of my childhood.  The song ran through my head a lot and I could see her face......
  • I thought I was the only one on the planet that remembered that psa.Same here that song goes into my head and I cant get it out from time to time. Please put me on the list if anybody finds it I will do the same.Just spent Hours looking for it.

Janey was laying in a hammock in the commercial.  I've described that commercial to people for years, and they think I'm crazy!!
  • @Bill_Wesley
I would also love to see the Jenny PSA again. It has stayed with me after all these years even though I was only 10 or 11 when it aired.

Yes, I recall that mid-70's commercial, too!  It had a woman singing, and it included the line, "....and I want to...."   don't recall anything else.  But, then a narrator says that so-and-so is dead, killed by a driver "drunk out of his mind".  That's not much of a description, admittedly, but after 40 years it's hard to recall the details.  But, I DO REMEMBER that commercial !  It was truly a sad one.
  • @sweettrt
@HooseBinPharteen I haven't found it yet, but I am still looking, between us we are the only two people on the face of the earth that know all the lyrics to that tragic Public service announcement! I was so ready to find it today! good luck on your search!

I was trying to think of a commercial too. Some lady was singing a song something about "and I want to see Venice." A man's voice cuts in and says, "Janie died that day." I just can't remember any more of it. I sure would like to hear the rest of the song she was singing and watch the commercial again.

If anyone can find that commercial it would be BONUS! I have looked for it for years and years. The song goes: I want to see the sun come up another 50 years, I'd like to write a novel that will bring the world to tears. And I want to see Venice. I want to know whats out there beyond the furthest star! I even want to go there if we ever get that far, I want to see my kids have kids I want to see them free. I want the most of me. I want to live, I want do dance, I want to breathe, I want to see Venice...
  • It was very haunting. I want to know what's out there, beyond the farthest star I even want to go there if we ever get that far! And I want to see Venice.
  • @sweettrt
help me please if u remember this I hope u can help me find another. it was sad.. a young women swinging on a swing and the song lyrics were "I want to know whats out there beyond the furthest star, I even want to go there if we ever get that far. and I want to see venice. i want to see my kids have kids. i want to see them free. etc . then u hear a man say Jenny died on an endless road. she was hit by a drunk driver! it was so emotional 40 years later I am still trying to find it
  • @sweettrt
i never found it, did you ever find it? it's nice to know someone else remembers, but seriouly I have found everything I remembered in my phonographic memory ha ha, accept this and the milky way commercial that was from the 60's that had a little kid turn his glass of milk into a "milky way bar" by saing Milk milk milkyway.
  • @182436hike
"I want to watch the sun come up another fifty years I want to write a novel that will bring the world to tears I want to laugh I want to love I want to breath................ ..and I want to see Venice!" "Janey died.... because a lonely man was driving drunk out of his mind. Get the problem drinker off the road." That's my recollection.

Did you ever find the I Want to See Venice PSA? In the '70s I worked for a local TV station and at times ran movies that had to be cut or padded to finish exactly on the hour. I always tried to time it out so that I would have :20 seconds to fill at the end of the movie. That way I could run the Jenny PSA. I'd sure like to download a copy.
