Street Fighter V can be intimidating for new players. This is part one of a three part tutorial series from gootecks aimed at beginners. Part I is all about offense, Part II is about defense, and part III is about throws. We're going to be using Ryu since he is the best character for new players to start with. Between these tutorials, the Xavier Woods set, and just generally watching Cross Counter, if I can get past the salt, I might stand a chance at actually learning how to play a fighting game for once in my life. Thanks for the more-or-less community service, Gootecks.

Totally new fighting game player. Bought the game 2 days ago and I fucking blow. Thanks a ton for all the work that went into these videos. I can already see improvements.

Thank you Gootecks!! I just played my first ranked match ever, (also first street fighter match against another human being period) went up against someone that was lvl 17, and managed to win 1 out of 3 best of 3's we did! My heart was POUNDING!

Great videos, Gootecks. I've been playing casually for a while but never mastered all the basics. These videos give me a lot of great ideas on where to improve. Keep up the good work.

New to SF amd the FGC in general. This series is perfect and you are a beautiful man for making this. I love you.

Man fighting games are daunting. I have danced in Arkham. Made devils cry, and fed and the largest, most powerful souls. Fighting games are the last bastion for me to master, and it is the size of Mt. Everest.

As someone who was really good at MKX, I am getting dominated in this game. I didn't expect it to be so different! I was getting very frustrated with SFV because of the strange timings on a lot of combos. Decided to forget everything I thought I knew and relearn it all! Thanks for the helpful vids, I have already learned a ton! I subscribed so I can hopefully learn more and maybe become mediocre at the game :D

I like the way you explain so detailed and this is real helpful for many beginers like me.thx a lot.
  • Great video!! Would love some defensive stuff on cross up defense if your doing any more defense videos!

Great tutorials here. Definitely worth for the new people to check out Though mind checking the audio next time? I hear 2 different ones, one probably coming from the mic, and other one coming 2 secs off sync with better quality.
