  • I named my daughter after him. Townesly! The only one I've ever known, she's a rare breed just like the guy she's named after. Been listening to him for a couple decades and I still get chills. To all my turn styled and junk piled friends, loving the comments.

None better. We are all richer because he lived, created and performed.

    Bless you Townes. RIP

Imagine there will be people in this world that might not hear this album! I wish they could. Love from Ireland 🥃
  • An amazing writer, singer, guitarist and truly a mystical soul. I have the pleasure of knowing him as a friend.

The greatest songwriter to ever live. His grocery lists would have gone #1 in a fair world that valued music over mass produced garbage.
  • @Jack1Free
Got his first album for 49 cents in a bargain bin in Jackson, MS c. 1970...
  • @redoberon
There has never been a musician like him
  • @MJWPub
Townes Van Zandt and Frankie Miller are the only singer-writers to make me cry on first hearing.
  • @omairsheikh3982
His guitar playing was story telling in itself, but his lyrics were the real deal. Such a magical storyteller, RIP

This is a throwback to legends like Campbell, Cash, Jennings, Robbins, etc. And then there's Townes, he is a legend right there among them. Just consistent hit after hit after hit of great songs. He is quite an amazing singer, songwriter and musician. I really like his fingerstyle playing especially.

I’m so grateful that Emmylou Harris recorded Pancho and Lefty on her 1976 album Luxury Liner, that is how I came to love the talented songwriter Townes Van Zandt. I have been immersing myself in Townes music for years and years & my oldest son got tickets for all of us (me, husband, it’s his birthday, son & girlfriend) to go to a Townes tribute concert this weekend, so excited 👏❤️🥰

A bright star in the heavens.🌺🌹
  • I'm just getting into this man's music and I'm wondering why I hadn't until now. One
of the greatest song writers of all time.

I was introduced to Townes Van Zandt a year ago because someone in my family was playing him a lot. I always stopped what I was going to listen and I still do. Some of his songs sure have a way of making me cry yet I go back for more. Pancho and Lefty was the first song of his I heard and it really left a permanent mark on my music taste.

I see a a common denominator between Townes and Songwriter Phil Ochs who died in 1976 from self asphyxiation after suffering from depression from government oppression
