Yes, the summer Olympics should only be held in cities that already have the infrastructure (stadiums, hotels, transit, etc). No more bankrupting countries to host an Olympics.
-
LA area is very well-positioned for Olympic venues with minimal new construction needed - SoFi, Memorial Coliseum, Rose Bowl, Crypto, Honda Center, The Forum, LA Clippers Arena, BMO and Dignity Health Stadium, UCLA Polly Pavilion, Long Beach Arena, and UCLA and USC dormitories for Olympic Village. Expect the LA Olympics 2028 to be very profitable.
-
LA is opening a lot more Rapid Transit and increasing train frequencies by summer 2028
-
Baseball & Softball will be returning for 2028 Olympics
-
Baseball/Softball has NOT been removed; it's in fact part of a shortlist of 9 "optional events" to be considered for LA2028. The IOC will make a final decision on this in October at the IOC's meeting in Mumbai, India. If they get selected then Dodger Stadium will be the venue - it just hosted the ASG last year so it's more than ready for the Olympics.
-
Correction: LAFC's stadium will not be their future home, it has been their home since 2018.

Me sitting here in L.A. listening to this guy.... "Can you even imagine living in L.A.? It's just a completely different way of life!" Different from....... what? I dunno... I've been to a lot of cities. L.A. is not so different. Sure, it's bigger and more spread out that most cities, but we have Starbucks and churches and parks and post offices and McDonalds and the same boring shit as every other city. This guy talks like we're all purple aliens speaking Klingon or sumthin
-
Paris probably doesn't have the facilities in place to host a 2 week baseball tournament, but LA does.
-
It is funny you talk about traffic. When the Olympics came to town in 1984, locals were so scared of the potential traffic that they left town for two weeks. I remember how light traffic actually was. This Olympics were unforgettable and I hope 2028 is equally as unforgettable.
-
I heard when LA hosted the Olympics in 1984, traffic wasn’t much of an issue. I would imagine a lot of businesses will do work from home during that time
-
They haven't decided on the final sports to be included yet, they're supposed to decide that later this year. They narrowed it down to cricket, break-dancing, baseball/softball, flag football, karate, kickboxing, lacrosse, squash, and motorsport. They can add as many as they like as long as the total number of athletes in the games is under 10,500. I belive it's a joint decision between the IOC board and the LA28 organizers.
-
Small correction, LAFC's stadium, BMO Stadium, has been open for a few years now. Also, Stub Hub Center is now known as Dignity Health Park.
-
LA had no trouble with traffic in 1984 because people opted not to make unnecessary trips. In addition— LA has added a ton of rail transit since 84, and the venues have been located adjacent to transit.
-
SoFi stadium in Inglewood/Los Angeles is also gonna host the 2026 World Cup which is being held in North America, USA-Canada and Mexico. That’s also gonna be a huge event!! Personally I can’t wait, because If there’s anything I want to experience it’s a World Cup game. Maybe you can consider a video on the 2026 World Cup host stadiums in North America.

Traffic wasn't an issue in 1984. Many businesses were asked to give employees flex hours. In 2028 it will be even less of an issue because businesses can now easily do a work from home schedule for a month. Also, we'll have a much more extensive Metro system compared to 1984. That will help a lot. BTW, the massive renovation at the Colosseum was done and paid for by USC. They have a long term management contract with USC. That was a condition from USC to do the renovation. It was a win win. What about the LA Convention Center? I'm sure they will use it for something. I read that USC dorms will house the world wide media.
-
the update rendering for the coliseum is real, they are going to raise the level of the track and field, to accommodate the events. This will also cover most of the lower deck, so that suite tower will be much closer to the track and field surface.
-
With the cost of hosting the Olympics I’ve always wondered if they should build a specific facility in Greece and just hold them there every time.
-
They'll add baseball back into the mix for 28. Like Japan had it in 2020, depends on the host country. Baseball will defiantly be in the mix.
-
That's Long Beach Arena in the rendering, which is connected to the Convention Center. Covered in a circular mural an ocean teeming with marine life by Robert Wyland named "Planet Ocean", this iconic building sits centrally in the Long Beach skyline, often mistaken for the Aquarium of the Pacific. Regarding the traffic, Metro, the major regional transportation agency, has implemented the ambitious "28 by '28" plan to complete 28 highway and transit projects including significant expansion of light rail and subway lines in the greater Los Angeles Metroplex by 2028.

5:46 The NFL LA Chargers, UFL LA Express, and MLS LA Galaxy should remain at SoFi Stadium
