Not only is that some sloppy work by the builder but if 90% of the work was being subbed out that should have been clear from the get-go. Glad you named them, so others know who to avoid. You guys were a lot more restrained than I would have been in dealing with that mess. Your dog is beautiful!
  • You know the tiny home community is a very small community and word of mouth gets around. People are always looking for recommendations on tiny home builders so the fact that you're speaking out about this issue is going to affect this company in a very adverse way and I have to say they deserve it. People should definitely consider long and hard before working with that company. They're going to lose a lot of money.
  • I am so impressed by this couple’s positive, yet realistic attitude. They don’t seem bitter, but they aren’t sugar coating it either. I appreciate that they are notifying the public so others won’t have the same problems.
  • Mold from water damaged buildings is no joke. It can have far reaching health effects. If they subbed out the work, they're still the responsible party. The lack of accountability and responsibility here is infuriating. I'm surprised legal action isn't possible. So sorry you had to deal with that - being two nice people.
  • I'm so sorry you two went through that with them, it was a challenge not getting angry on your behalf. BUT! The most valuable part of this video, for me, was your transparency about the problem, and your problem-prevention suggestions. Thank you!
  • Mold, flooding and subsequently ruined building materials are real issues for so many people. Whether tiny home, mobile home or site built home. I applaud Maddy & Alec's tenacity. Good luck dears. Glad you have put all that behind you...what a great learning curve! And applause to Alec's wonderful parents as well 🤜💥🤛
  • That’s wild the builder was such a d-bag about their clear deficiency. I’m so glad you all kept with it and got it fixed- but it’s so nice to learn of these things and especially what builders to steer away from! If they reimbursed for the inspection and still sent the fixings - it would’ve been better- but they didn’t. Shows where their priorities are. Such a wonderful couple! And great advice😊
  • I feel sad (and frankly a little angry at the situation with their builder) that this lovely couple went through this water damage in their home, I think I would have been in tears! I am also very grateful to Maddy and Alec for sharing this video with us all 👍 It's DEFINITELY helpful, omg! Thank you!
  • If I have ever seen a cuter or sweeter couple, I sure don't know who it would be! These two are simply enchanting and wise to boot. Such great attitudes! I love the design of their home and their dog is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing with us Maddy and Alec. TOTALLY enjoyed your tour!
  • Their last comment was my favorite- that they want to pay it forward and allow someone to live on their land when they can buy it. Besides being kind and altruistic, they are very wise. Having a lease with a family member is just as important, if not more, than a lease with any landlord. (I know- I’m watching two family members with no lease between them and it’s not fun.) At their age, they wouldn’t have known to get a third party inspector, but at least they figured it all out, documented their problem and ended up with a solution. (The tiny home company really should have compensated them for labor to fix the problem . They would have gotten loyal customers instead of bad publicity on a You Tube channel. They are just the sweetest couple and I really enjoyed this video!
  • @peri3818
Her personality is adorable! Great couple and really cute home.
  • It's your series that did it. Sold my home & ranch, gave away everything in the house, tossed my cat in the car, drove q18h & parked an Escape eONE in Durango Colorado. It is 67F in the casa without a/c. Doin' good.
  • @Dovietail
THANK YOU for talking about the leak. These videos tend to be all "wine and roses," and it's nice to see you dealing with real world issues that happen in all homes.
  • Thanks for giving some scoops on what to be aware of when choosing a tiny house builder, the warranty details, etc. Your little home is lovely. And you're blessed to have parents willing to give you some space on their land.
  • Beautiful home… lovely - and forgiving couple. The builder should have cut you a check for everything… materials and repairs - to correct the issue THEY created by improperly flashing your home. Not cool on their part. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
  • Kudos to you, Tiny House Expedition for providing us with the video with so much needed info. Kudos also to this most lovely couple. I thank God that they didn’t allow this water problem to cause them any relationship problem or total discouragement in living in their TH. What a horrible and shameful builder that did not behave correctly when they were informed they had installed the window flashing backwards, which is the reason this couple had the water disaster they did.
  • Your tiny house is adorable! I’m so glad you told us about your leak problem and the very unprofessional response from Ida Tiny Homes. I would not buy anything from them because it was their mistake not yours. They should have compensated you for more than just materials. That’s very bad a business practice.
  • What a cute couple! They’ve made some wise choices and learned a bunch of valuable lessons. Best of luck to the 3 of them in their charming tiny 🏠!
