Alienware is the out-of-this-world system integrator that produces, monitors, keyboards, gaming PCs and well, a whole lot more. While we've been super positive on their QD-OLED gaming monitors how is the rest of their lineup? Their Gaming Prebuilt, Aurora R15, was maligned by the DIY community, but maybe their fully redesigned Aurora R16? With an Intel Core i7-13700F CPU an NVIDIA RTX 4070, it just might be a good setup. Only one way to find out.

As an unaware kid in the 2000s this was my dream setup

Alienware literally is a mystery bag. It could be good. It could be bad but it will always be expensive.

An Alienware PC was my dream when I was a kid. Finally got an Aurora R14 a couple years ago with all the best components. Within a month it just quit, it was stuck on the Alienware booting screen. Hours on the phone with support and no luck. Had 2 techs out within 2-3 months, the 1st tech took hours taking everything apart and replacing what he did and was unable to fix anything. A 2nd different tech came out with more parts, replaced them and noticed the 1st tech broke the computers face plate, which I was unaware of, and of course ordered a new one and some more parts and needed to come out again at a later time. The 2nd tech came out again, replaced more and the computer was still unable to get off the boot screen. The motherboard, RAM, GPU, CPU, everything was replaced multiple times with no avail. Even the tech was stumped. The very expensive computer was returned, I ordered one through NZXT with all the newest parts. Got it and had no issues. Eventually the 3090 went out and I contacted the company. I sent the computer back, it the graphics card replaced and couldn't be happier. Long story short I returned all the Alienware accessories I bought Including the computer.

Alienware computers always looked really cool. I always knew they were more money than they deserved to be but whenever someone pulled out an Alienware laptop I had to take a look. My cousin had a m11 that was probably the coolest looking netbook you could buy.
  • @Jakovdred
I really love Alienware, every time I build my PC, I just go to their website copied their specs then build my own accordingly. The result always make me feel like I saved a lot of money.
  • @Apercu
LTT putting a Build Redux ad at the beginning of an Alienware video is perfection. Well played.
  • @pablo82195
I got an Alienware aurora r5 when they first came out and I loved it. Used it for years but she did run hot, was great in the winter time lol. Had an i7, 1080 nvidia, 850w supply and 16gb of ram.

Since I was born legally blind, the Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired bought me a laptop for graduate school, and I picked an Alienware one that ended up being like 2-3 inches thick with SLI mobile graphics, this was in about 2008. I distinctly remember sitting in the front row one day with it plugged into the wall, and my database professor asking me: "What are you powering, a reactor?" when he saw the power brick.

Linus's ability to drop and knock over things truly amazes me
  • @DavyDave1313
This is almost my exact same setup - R15 with RTX4090, AW720M mouse and AW920K keyboard. The ONLY things I didn't get from Alienware/Dell is the monitor as I opted to go with the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55 inch and Secret Labs Titan Evo XL gaming chair. I wanted an Alienware monitor but they don't make a 4k monitor sadly LOVE ALIENWARE!!!!
  • @xxProjectJxx
In 2001-2002, I had a friend with an Alienware PC, and he had me convinced it was the greatest computer money could buy lol
  • @grimking1993
Great. Now you need an Acer Predator setup. Alien vs Predator
  • @thng670
I usually build my own PC but about 1.5-2 years ago, I decided to buy a top of the line Alienware PC (3090/5950x) for work. It was on sale and it was actually cheaper than if I had bought the parts separately. Believe it or not, I was also able to upgrade the pc by quite a bit too (added rams + 4tb nvme with a PCI e expansion card) People complain about the price/value a lot but if you get them on sale, their price are very decent. The PC is a beast and I never had any problems with it. I actually got less problems with it than having to deal with different pc parts+ diagnostics when something does not work. Customer service was pretty good too.
  • @Nizm0Mike
I've been happy with my R15 that somehow contains a 4090. I got it during a sale and also as a refurbishment so I feel like the price was actually very fair. Even if the airflow isn't the best, the PC preforms quite well comparatively on 3dmark to other setups and it's a prebuilt with warranty. I find that hard to beat as someone who works a lot and doesn't have the time to tinker with stuff as much. I wanted to plug it in, play some games in 4k, and it does that quite well. I do miss the old days of wild automotive grade paint on the alienware desktops.

Build redux specifically wanted to sponsor this video. They knew exactly how to use this golden opportunity Edit*: I see a lot of people say build redux is also shit. No clue tbh, I'm not from N.A. And as far as I'm aware that's the only place they are active. Dell is active everywhere, and from the moment I came face to face with my first Alienware dell to repair I hated them. Because of all the proprietary bullshit they do which makes it almost unable to repair as your average Joe's PC shop. Build redux is just the better choice between these 2
  • @Dudae_
Linus: the io being part of the board is actually pretty cool GN Steve: this io is literally the biggest affront to pc building everywhere and to my being as a whole
  • @stagnantlasagna
I got a tattoo on my wrist of the Symbiote Spider Man head that appeared on the corner of the cover on some comics in the 90s and a some kid we just hired at work says "hey that's a really cool Alienware tattoo" lmao and now I hate Alienware for that reason alone
