All these documentary channels need to add THE YEAR of the video made. Certain facts will be outdated so it's really important. Not passing it off as a recent video as I've seen other channels do.

I minored in religion when I was in college back in the 70s and one of my professors was one of the people that excavated the dead sea Scrolls he showed us many slides that I would love to see again today because back Then it really didn't mean much to me like it would now.

You guys should put in the description when the documentaries were filmed, this looks like late 90's or early 2000's

What I find interesting is the fact that those that created this video so long ago used so many Catholic religion employees, traveled scraps of Israeli heritage, and not once spoke in depth of all that was written on the Dead Sea scrolls. It would blow your mind, look up Dr. Ken Johnson.

Ancient writings on animal skins, that is to say vellum, can be examined to see if there were earlier writings that had been scraped off, hence the name 'Palimpsest' from the Greek for 'rescraping,' I believe, (and I'm wide open to correction on this if I don't have it right). My question is this: Were scrolls or other papyri ever erased or 'rescraped' in order to be reused and if so, are x-ray examinations performed on old papyrus documents in order to read what was previously written on the material?
  • 39:53 back in the day I lived in Iran, my grandfather had different clay jars for water cooling or water storage, yes have different compositions to seal humidity so you can store anything in it.
  • Its exhaustively informative for the time period it was made, the best thing about these scrolls to ke is that they just keep giving us more and more understanding into not only History but also spirituality and theology.

I have wonder if the little boys family (who were poor)were ever given credit for finding the Scrolls?

Ken Johnson can be found on YouTube but he is the best Scholar. for listing to the research on the dead sea scrolls.

I would wish that the emphasise of this video was on the actual message and content of the writing in the scrolls!

It is good to see these ancient scripts almost the same as what we have today in the old testament books.
