Trivia: Jane asked the Academy president they could close caption the ceremony(He said no) it's why Jane used sign language. so The Academy not just has a history of being cruel to performers of color, but also those with disabilites. Bravo Jane you're not just awesome you're a hero
  • Jane Fonda: this woman has more guts, talent and brains in her index finger than many many people have in their entire lived lives. She takes my breath away because she is stellar.

WHAT an  group of  first rate actresses - Ingrid Bergman, Jill Clayburgh, Ellen Burstyn, Geraldine Page AND Jane Fonda. Every one of them a legend

She really is unusual among the Hollywood crowd. She speaks with conviction from the heart and not just empty words. It’s been said so much it feels hollow . But she is wise, noble , beautiful and has a voice of a mother or teacher that makes you want just love doing what’s right to please her. Conviction mixed with maternal kindness is a potent force.

One of the best speeches ever at the oscars. Jane Fonda is just flawless and a true legend. Loved every performance of her especially Klute and They Shoot Horses Don't They
  • This is without any doubt the best speech ever so confident , honest and pure
  • @RobertDeMartin
The most spectacular acceptance speech OF ALL TIME! Incredibly warm and beautiful and it came from her heart.
  • I saw her once in traffic. I was tired--I hadn't slept in 36 hours--and I was making my way too slowly crossing the street as I saw a car in my periphery waiting to make a left in Westwood. I picked up my pace as I glanced at the driver...couple steps, and then I did the biggest double take of my life. She gave me the biggest smile. Cute

Coming home is one of the most underrated film i've ever seen. Jane, you're a legend.
  • Shirley's reaction was priceless. Lover her... And Jane. Whenever she talks and gives speeches, always with depth and with heartfelt dialogue.. Even up to this day at age 83... Go Jane!

What a great speech.. So honest and from the heart.. Coming Home was such an important film, Ms Fonda was right to be so pleased with her shared accomplishment.. Regal woman..
  • A true celebrity who has used (is using and I'm sure will continue using) her privilege for the topics that matter. Disabled people in 1979, climate change in 2019, and many more between... Love you Jane.

Here acknowledging the sign language was really cool and amazing of her

Jane Fonda, like her father, Henry Fonda, always demonstrated the most perfect diction.......every word they spoke always so clearly understood.
