When bread went to $5/loaf, it went back on the shelf and I bought a 5 lb bag of flour, along with sugar and some yeast. Started baking bread. Lots of people did that and suddenly the bread prices fell.

I personally believe there IS a food shortage and it will get worse— However, the retailers are SHAMEFULLY taking advantage of the situation. 😡

The food shortage is very real and doing a little research will confirm that...this is the time to set things up, and get us used to limits, shortages etc. Everyone should be fully prepped by now especially if you have a family.
  • The WEF has aligned with western governments to weaponize food. They need to do this to push the DIGITAL ID, and the new CBDCs. People will adopt these invasive and controlling technologies if food is short and citizens feel they have no option. Once people have accepted the digital ID & currency, their personal autonomy has been lost forever.
  • Not good business practice, it will backfire on them. Tell everyone the name of these businesses so people no longer support this type of behavior.

This is going to be location specific. I used to work shipments for a non-food retailer. There just isn't room to store things like that. When you get it, it goes out to the floor. If a grocer has the sufficient storage space for this, then they might do this. I know my local Walmart stocks every night. I mean, it's Walmart so some of it isn't the best stuff, but it at least does get stocked daily.

I am in the USA and what I am experiencing here trick with some of our grocery store retailers to make you buy more and thinking you saving. For instance say for instance a package of tea bags is normally 3.29 and if you by 3 you get them for $2.99 each. Another scenario they have a sale 2 for $5.00 for 2 loaves of bread. If you only need one the price will not ring up at the register for $2.50 but it will ring up the regular price for 1 load will be $3.49. It is forcing you to buy more than what you want to buy. So you end up buying 2 loaves of bread and getting each for $2.50. Years ago there was a sale 2 loaves of bread 2 for $5.00 for the sale price. You only wanted to buy 1 loaf of bread on sale you got it for 2.50 you did not get stuck paying the original price. Yes retailers are taking advantage of the customer. Frustrates me to no end. I hate over buying with these kind of sales. It's cheaper to buy 2 than 1 item even thought you don't want to buy the extra item. Like you said it easy for them to increase sales taking advantage of customers.
  • This makes me angry! Things are hard enough without grocery stores playing games. Not good!
  • Professionalism is on the brink of extinction: gasping its final breath.

Not surprised. I knew these shortages were all by design. It's never happened before like this.
  • This was going on for a while. This is why grocery day is Wednesday.

Some stores are mercenaries. Yesterday, the cheapest loaf of bread I found was $7.49 - just a plain, simple loaf of bread, there was no other. There was no milk except for the 1/2 gallons at 5.49. These stores do it because we allow them to do it. I decided not to shop in this large grocery chain. But the gas company doubled by rates because "there's a was in Ukraine"; that was the company's explanation. My gas prices have moved back up to the $4.00 mark, and still climbing. Electricity has been raised. And my rent was raised 20% because of land tax increases.
  • Hi Adam, thanks for the info. This is sooo wrong in so many ways. People are struggling so much and they're are only making it worse for the less fortunate. They keep going up and up and getting more and more greedy

My son worked as a stocker. It was backbreaking work every single day. Pallets of food that had to be put out daily. If they did it once a week, it would be impossible.
  • @leahtu730
I put the item back, walk out, go to another store. Not paying the expensive brands on items. I prefer to shop elsewhere or do without.
  • This is an interesting bit of info. I've seen where stores block the sales items with stacks of boxes so you can't get to them.
  • @rosejanni8718
Wow Adam, that is so true I think, because yes when I go to the store, that is what I found out!!!Some workers won't tell you that especially the old faithful ones!!!! Ripping us off

I am in Northeast Kansas where we have one large box retailer and one grocery store in my entire county. Some shelves looked bare at the box store, especially of the lower priced items. I asked an employee if they had more of a few items that were empty, and he said he could go into the back and get me more of whatever I wanted if I was willing to wait. There may be some shortages due to employee shortages, but from what I have seen and know from those working there, its more store tactics at this point than true shortages. Had I not known the manager ( again this is a small town) I would have personally fallen for this marketing trick. If I normally shop early morning midweek, the store is overloaded with items.
  • Our food shortage is not bad,but the prices, omg how much people will survive 😭🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
