Never underestimate a guitar/bass player who looks like a programmer from the early 2000s.
-
Playing drums and singing at the same time is a super power.
-
18-year old Karen Carpenter: plays an incredible drum solo while also singing Also 18-year old Karen Carpenter in the last 15 seconds of the video: "ah...might as well just quickly invent jungle music 25 years early before we finish"
-
Karen was 18 and Richard was 21. Let that sink in. And they both perform like longtime pros here. Destined for greatness.
-
Karen's drumming here, in all seriousness, and this is just conjecture: at 18 in 1968 she must have been the best female rock'n'roll drummer in the world. At least it's likely.
-
Never knew The Carpenters invented drum and bass. Mind blown.
-
Teared up watching how happy she was playing the drums ,yet how unhappy she was in life. She was such a talented beautiful girl.
-
I've watched the part @3:42 about a zillion times, what a timing, groove, precision and musicality. Just wow! And the sound she get's out of that snare is just insane.
-
That drumming structure played with that tempo was 27 years ahead of its time (jungle/dnb, ~1996). massive respect !
-
The only KAREN that matters
-
This woman could single handedly remove the stigma unfairly placed on the name Karen. Let’s be nice again to the Karens of the world.
-
She looked so cool on her white outfit and boots. Playing her battery and singing her heart out Truly one of the best drummer in the world at the time The most alluring voice of the century Ms Karen Carpenter RIP 1950-1983 Love you to eternity The world has not been the same without you
-
Even as a teen Karen was phenomenal on the drums. Many people still believe she was a mediocre drummer who could only play simple wedding songs. They couldn't be more wrong.
-
"I'm a drummer 1st and a singer 2nd ", so said Karen Carpenter !
-
I'm a 90's baby, but I've always had a very very strong connection to the 60's and 70's. When my grandparents introduced me to this music, I felt like I was teleported back to when I was ALIVE.
-
Look her smile. Her jazzy rock touch . It's unique. Whata feeling. RIP Karen. A beautiful and bright musician. Look her face. So much feeling and energy.
-
richard's solo was intense as well, talented brother and sister for sure
-
To be that amazing at drumming but to also sing at the same time, she was incredibly talented
-
I love who the host presented her like “and she was playing in the kitchen” and then fucking killed it in the drums… WHILE singing
-
I'm speechless. I always thought she only sang mellow pretty songs. This wipes floor with most music acts these days and Karen steals the show. Her chops are super groovy.
