Many years ago, I played a small pub gig in Northampton and one of our songs was Still Got The Blues. During the song, this odd looking woman stood about 2 feet in front of me just watching and swaying with the music. I thought she was nuts! Anyways, after the set, she came over and introduced herself as Gary Moore's sister in law. Her sister was Donna! She told me the story of how she met Gary. She was shacked up with a famous drummer who used to beat her up. Gary told her to move into his flat and have his bed whilst he slept on the sofa. She ended up introducing him to her sister who Gary fell madly in love with. When she ran off with the Gary Holton from Auf Wiedersehen Pet, it broke his heart and he never got over her. She told me Gary would have been proud of my solo during SGTB. I cried that night as Gary was my biggest hero and to have such nice comments from someone who knew him so well was the biggest highlight of my career.

Most underrated guitar player ever. Not many musicians can mix technique and feeling like this.

No matter how many times you have listened to, goosebumps guaranteed.

When Rolling Stone left him out of their 100 greatest guitar players list, I understood that I know more about music than they do.

What I cannot get over is that whenever a guitar player shreds, it gets boring very soon and you hit the point of feeling “enough.” Gary is one of those amazing players that you just never want to stop playing. It’s like a blissful journey through the sea of human emotions.
  • I've only heard a few tunes from this man, and I clearly understood that he is one of the best guitarists ever.

He isn't just a guitarist - he's an artist. He doesn't just make the guitar talk he makes it bare it's soul. RIP Gary.

How any human being can make a guitar cry and scream like that, for ten whole minutes, with not a single mistake or off key note....it must take thousands of hours of practice, and a soul not of this world. RIP Gary Moore. 🥺
