The fact that Vox got destroyed by the person he's dissing on his OWN DISS TRACK is gold. Their rivalry seems so one-sided with Vox absolutely seething just by hearing Alastor's name and Al seeing him as a minor inconvenience
  • Vox: I'm gonna make you wish that you stayed gone! Alastor: pulls out reverse uno card
  • @Charisonic_558
I love the fact that alastor would have been completely indifferent to staying in the shadows, not announcing his presence or anything. But the moment Vox's insecurity shows and he starts smack talking, that's when Al decides it's time for a little trolling.
  • Fact that Vox announced his presence makes him seem super insecure because Alastor didnt even bother telling anyone he came back. He announces himself after Vox telling everyone. As well as Vox asking him to join the team and Alastor telling him no.

The whole black out scene with Vox and Alastor is also great in the sense that despite having all the advancement of technology, society still continues to use radio, radio waves, and radio broadcasts, the newest form is podcasting. The blackout is a great scene because Radio is cheap, affordable and easy to set up, there isn't as much setup involved with it to broadcast as you can see the setup Alastor has its kind of janky. In blackout emergencies, in natural disasters, impoverished areas where electricity is come and go, radio can deliver ALOT of information with minimal set up from both sides of the broadcaster and the listener and a radio uses minimal amount of power, you can power a radio and get vital information with just a hand crank. Alastor is old school, but is up to date with the trends, even with the lingo involved with the excellent lines of "Clout chasing mediocre video podcast!" "Everyday he has a new format" "uhoh! The TV is buffering!" He knews despite being legacy tech, its still in use and still relied upon as backup as communication to the masses but also still between individuals for mundane and emergency dispatch. And has the advantage when the lights go out.
  • Alastor isn’t worried about taking Vox out because he knows that if he does then he’s inevitably going to have to deal with a new Overlord who replaces him. When he first manifested, he slaughtered the Overlords who had dominated Pride for centuries as a show of strength, but that eventually led to people like the V’s managing to get a foothold thanks to the ensuing power vacuum. So as much as he wants to get rid of Vox and the others, he now knows there is no guarantee that he won’t be replaced by someone he finds even more annoying. Like the old saying goes: “Better the devil you know…”

I actually kinda want to know what you think about this theory that Lilith and Alastor work together (them both being absent for seven years and then him returning to the Hotel as being possibly asked by Lilith) edit: honestly I think the phrase "He almost beat you" could imply different meaning, either "he was hard to defeat" or "you barely escaped"
  • The Alastor and Vox duet song is my favorite song from Hazbin Hotel so far. Can't wait to see more episodes soon.
  • At the end of the musical, Alastor appears in the screens in front of Vox. It could be simply for the music number or. . . Alastor can also go into the screens like Vox can.
  • Seriously I love how Alastor is just the Cheshire Cat of the series! And the duet between Alastor and Vox was amazing. My favorite song so far! ❤
  • @PepperIsSalty
My theory was that he let Vox stick around because TV uses radio waves, thus giving Alastor more power possibly?
  • @feyytime5571
Vox is a bit toooo obsessed with Alastor for a simple rivalry. I'm catching some vibes if you know what I mean
  • @nexaaaaaaa
Vox has became my favorite character so quickly, I used to like him before too, but the new episodes just cemented it for me for no paticular reason
  • @alwyz_cynical.1
Vox saying he’s not at all worried in the news thing and his reaction to Alastor’s final message/song makes me think he is in fact worried. Which I think he should be; Alastor ERASED previous overlords. How?! Either he has powers that can do that or he managed to get ahold of Angel weaponry. ALSO, I think he’s already made a deal…..with Lilith. Reason I say this is because they both disappeared for 7 years….and now he’s helping her daughter. Idk seems kind of suspicious
  • @RekEStore32
It's worth noting that Alastor was 'out of the picture' for seven years. Back in episode 1, Charlie tells Vaggie it's been 7 years since she's had contact with her mother. Could Alastor have an alliance with Lilith? Or did something big happen seven years ago that called not only the queen to step back out of the limelight, but others in power?
  • Hearing that Vox apparently asked Alastor to join his team and Alastor rejected him makes me think that it might be possible Vox had a crush on him at first, and when Alastor rejected him, this made Vox think 'you think you're too good for me?' and he just became more obssessed with him. I'm pretty sure it's been said that Vox has a fixation on Alastor and wants Alastor to notice him, while Alastor does not have the same interest.
  • @YaboiZephyr
My theory has not changed since i saw the pilot and learned about the vox v allister beef. I believe allister is at least as powerful as the 3 v's combined. They appear to be in a bit of a stalemate or at the very least unable to fully kill eachother.
  • @Kingly419
Vox’s goal for Alastor originally before the 3 vs might have been to become AV. Vox says in his song that he’s visual and alastor is barely audible. A common technological term to display and transmit data is AV or audio-visual.
