There are a ton of ways to flip samples, many of which I have not had experience with. In this video I am trying a new workflow for flipping samples, by reversing this vinyl sample and then chopping it up for a beat.

For this beat, I used the MPC One as the standalone tool to flip the samples, including drums, melodies, and bass.

I hope you enjoy this workflow, and the sample based beat, and I hope the video provides some inspiration for your own production. I will be in the comments, so let me know what you want to see in a future vide

  • Dilla was a big fan of reversing samples, and the Bomb Squad with Public Enemy in the late 80s. But I guess all of us owe a lot to Dilla and the Bomb Squad. Even people who don't realise they have been influenced by them, have. After 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul (and suddenly lawsuits left, right and centre), we all had to do things to hide our samples. Reversing was one of the ways.
  • The entire vibe of this video is like a hip-hop, Bob Ross I love it. Awesome video.
  • I love how chill this dude is, videos are always enjoyable and easy to understand as a beginner beatmaker. Dope beat dude πŸ‘

This is something I've been doing for the past year or so. With every sample this allows you to get a second chance at finding good chops if the regular way didn't give you much. Super underrated imo i'm glad you covered it
