To date, I have been creating all of my drum patterns. So I thought it was time to talk about using full drum break samples for hip hop beats. Let’s make a hard boom bap beat using a vinyl drum break sample and the MPC One! In order to make the drums KNOCK, we are going to be playing the sample rate of the MPC.

For this beat I used the MPC ONE as the standalone tool to flip the samples, and sequence the bassline.

I hope you enjoy the drum break sample based beat, and I hope the video provides some inspiration for your own production. I will be in the comments, so let me know if you want to see more videos like this one!

  • You learned from the OGs. I used to have to speed up albums because the sample time was like 12 seconds on the MPC 60 and S950. Well done Kiddo 💯🔥
