Great channel! I am an EE intern in automotive but I keep getting tasks involving python and SQL and I've been enjoying it so far.
  • I am a semi-retired Oracle EPM/BI/DM consultant. I have attempted to define exactly what Data Science is and I have found that you can't because everything in the world fall under that umbrella. I know for a fact that certain tools will find applications in the above mentioned items EPM/BI/DM, but I believe that the Data Science as a stand alone profession will disappear.

So, the "era" of the data scientist is ending? at my company, We don't even bother anymore. We have DAs & BIs on one side and MLEs on the other. All of our MLE candidates already have DA XP so it's easier to be productive right away.

so i completed an M.S. in faker science in May 2022. then i put in over 2000 job applications while going thru a software engineering career accelerator. i couldn't get a job as a faker scientist... or anything else technical. maybe because i don't have a portfolio? [how can i train to get an entry level data role doing heavy SQL?] What's the path? Thanks! -- a knucklehead

I have questions. Currently, my job is cleaning, preparing, building pipelines, doing the dashboard, and creating ML models by using AutoML that serve business needs should I consider myself as ML Engineer? I don't know the difference between two jobs, I do whatever it need to. Could you elaborate on the difference between these 2 roles.

Hello sir. I'm very curious about your thoughts on astronomer cert and algoexpert. If this is the first time you've heard it from me, could you please research/examine it?

Can you give a distinction between data engineer and machine learning engineer. I am currently a data engineer and would like to move to a machine learning engineer role. Thanks for all the wisdom already

Hey Mike,i shared the link before but YouTube took it down imo. In one of Luke Barousse's( who i believe is good at his job ) videos , titled "Data Scientist vs Data Engineer vs Data Analyst (funny!)", he actually brutally puts the data scientist in the video to shame by questioning how useless he is. Yet these youtubers ( Data Scientists and Analysts) support one another in YouTube to grow.

Can you clear the “masters/phD is required for DS/MLE role” statement ? Is this true for American tech market ? I am in Canada as a DA and I plan on coming down south in a few years to work as either a Data Engineer or MLE. I have an undergrad in CS from FL so I was there for 4 years before. How would you guide me ?
  • @cissemy
Hi Mike With Data Science failing , is it worth learning python as recession proof ? Sorry.
  • @ollicron7397
People are treating certs as paper weight. Ive seen threads on forums where there are actual entry level data engineers who dont even know what a stored procedure is. This isn't only exclusive to data engineering but also CCNA, CCNP, all these other certs, employers just not caring that much anymore for hard work.

Hello Mark, is becoming a DBA really worth it for beginners?
  • @andynelson2340
Zillow made the mistake of thinking a machine learning model is as useful as a home inspection. They had to write off 300+ million for their home acquisition boo boo.

You’ve pound the SQL is king in data drum more than anyone I’ve come across. I’ve been told that R, Python and Excel are more valuable. I’m not seeing it though. Why is this promoted?

Can you make a vid on the best ways to do a job search? Ive heard other people say that cold emails and other avenues work better than the normal application process. What do u think on this?
