  • Mt granny used a Bible verse to stop bleeding, and had a little saying she used to take away pain from a burn. She told us how we could get rid of warts.

Thank you God bless I will pray 🙏 for the ones you ask for prayers
  • My grandparents talked about " hedge witches"...they used herbs( roots and other plants) Bible verses, and sometimes a " charm" ( could be about anything, but coins were common). A witch was always a woman, if a man done the same thing, he was a conjure ( conjurer). They weren't evil, but the opposite...like healing, finding water, knowing when to plant, harvest, and other things by " signs".... I think of magic as an energy source, in and of itself not evil or good, but how you use it is.
  • I appreciate the stories and the lives are awesome and heartwarming im a new comer but i plan on sticking with ya brother
  • Missed the live chat but listening now. Having grown up with both Native and Scots-Irish kinfolk and cultures, there was more than a bit of "old ways" in the mix. Seen enough of spooks, haints, and other things that I know better than to dismiss it as mere superstition. However, to quote my great-grandmother who was a traditional healer, those things only have the power that you give them. Don't invite them, don't provoke them, and give them a decent amount of respect and distance. As for spells and medicine/healing, if it works, accept it at that and go on about it. When it comes to crones and women of power, respect them and treat them as honored elders - you never know when you'll need their help. If they offer to teach you something, learn it and use it for doing good. ALWAYS give them a gift to show your appreciation for their help. People used to drop off things for my great-grandmother - produce from their gardens, a jar of honey or molasses, a bag of coffee, a length of cloth, a dozen eggs, or something practical they thought she could use. Sometimes it would be a fellow dropping off a squirrel or rabbit from hunting, or a flank strap after the deer had been butchered. Like most Native healers, Great-grandmother wouldn't accept money for her services, said it wasn't proper given that what she did wasn't something that money could buy but a charge she was given by the Creator to help others.
