Cornel West: Running for President, Ending Ukraine War & Taking on “Corporate Duopoly” of Dems & GOP

Cornel West, the iconic academic and social critic, has declared his candidacy for president of the United States in the 2024 election. He is running with the People’s Party, a progressive alternative to the two major parties that grew out of Bernie Sanders’s 2016 campaign. With 2024 shaping up to be a rematch between “neofascist” Donald Trump and “milquetoast neoliberal” Joe Biden, West says voters need a real alternative focused on tackling inequality, racism, war and corporate greed. “There’s an indifference to the plight of the vulnerable,” West tells Democracy Now! He also discusses the war in Ukraine, censorhip, right-wing extremism, and allegations of sexual harassment and assault against People’s Party founder Nick Brana, among other topics.

Thank you Amy for giving brother Dr West the time to express his views. Ive watched many interviews of this brilliant man and they do not give him the time or respect he deserves. Hopefully he can push through the resistance that a lot of marginalized people are STILL experiencing.

Deep respect for Mr. West. The People's Party is our one chance at upsetting the applecart that is the right/left status quo. I have always felt that the 2 party system is fundamentally wrong.

i pretty confident that cornel will be able to get to people with his approach and delivery. he knows it’s the key to getting on the right track. i truly hope his run goes amazing at this point his talking points are so common sense i can’t believe they’re debatable. it’s scary

I can only imagine how much this brilliant, sensitive, fearless man would be able to accomplish if he got voted President of The Divided States of America. Just seeing this video has me excited. Democracy Now and Amy Goodman don't just tell us the truth, they are the truth. Thank you. There may just be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Mr. West is so respectful even in the midst of opposing political views/issues. Not once did he make one's physical appearance a narrative. Well done! We can learn a thing or two from this gentleman and scholar.
