Releasing onto a pandemic ridden and depressed world in the summer of 2020, the Heman origins line reinvigorated MOTU fans and brought new people into the fold. Despite mass distribution, we are already seeing some of these figures appreciate way quicker than one would expect. Who do you think the most valuable is?

Did any of these things surprise you? 🔥 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩: nerdzoic.com/
  • I'm surprised Scareglow didn't make the list. He's a highly desirable figure with a cool glow-in-the-dark feature.

Not Really, MOTU is SUPER popular right now and has been since the Origins had been released a few years ago. Matt I understand that your state must have received SO MUCH product but if you're part of any MOTU facebook groups or MOTU dedicated channels you will probably hear numerous stories of states / Cities which received nearly nothing in terms of stock on hand. Up here in Canada during the Walmart Exclusive Year for waves 1 - 4 we would be lucky if we received even 1 or 2 sets per Walmart. This led to collectors of the line having to travel to multiple cities to try and complete the line. The Walmart Exclusive REALLY KILLED it for so many of the collectors here. I know of so many collectors who have GAPS in their collection and are super worried that the ONLY way they can complete their sets is to head to eBay :( Thanks for the awesome Video! Love the channel Matt! I hope you and the family are doing better since the flood. Take Care and Stay Stafe! -Geek Proud!

The fact that you can get vintage versions of roboman in good shape for half the price of his new version is nuts.
  • @RainbowYawn
Webstor has been the hardest to get hold of in UK and seems to be bringing in the biggest money on the secondary market over here
  • She-Ra’s secret identity is Adora, not Andora. And Orko was in the vintage toy line.
  • I ended up buying vintage Trap Jaw and Tri Klops for less than their Origins counterparts on ebay.
  • The thing about these is the price fluctuates so much. Value goes up way more than it goes down, though. No matter how rare or how common these are to find in the store, I believe almost all of them will have incredible value a few years from now. Definitely not a bad idea to buy an extra one of each and put them in storage or an attic for awhile and let them gain value. I know I'm doing that. I have an entire set put away so far, and plan on having all of them when the line ends.
  • About a year ago. I found a single Man-E-Faces and a single Trap-Jaw together at a Wal-Mart amongst a sea of He-Man and Skeletor pegwarmers. About a month later, a found a single Orko at the same store. The card was beat to shit but the figure was still perfect inside. I think I have about 25 Origins figures and even though it has been a pain in the Eternian ass collecting this line. It pleases me to know that I own all of these figures on this list, all found at either Wal-Mart or Target, with the exception of Ninjor and Tri-Klops. Me, I still really, really want a Stinkor and a Webstor for my collection
  • I’ve kept up with each origins wave. I never saw tri-klops and roboto in the store ever, but luckily my neighbor did, and got them for me. Everyone else, I was surprisingly able to find in store. Of course it consisted of stalking the store like crazy, but it pays off.
  • I think this depends on your region. I'm from Germany and here all those you mentioned are still in stores for around 20€/$. Only exeption is Ninjor. He was only in store for about one week and sells at 120€/$ here (and is the only one missing so far in my collection). Not to mention the PowerCon Exclusives, which we germans had no way of getting them retail. They cost about 110€/$ each figure, Copycat goes for 300€/$ and the Horde Pack for 500€/$. And we get most figures over 6 month later than the US. Some we never got (like Mini Comic Stratos). The last we got was wave 8, with Clawfull still missing. He should come with wave 9 at the end of the year...IF we are lucky.... <.< Mattel is really messing up here.
  • Mattel only intended Stratos to be evil after Don Glut had switched Mer-Man over to the heroic side in his prototype story "The Fighting Foe -Men". Stratos was switched to the evil side during "The Lords of Power" phase of development. Stratos was originally intended to be a good guy, as confirmed by Mark Taylor. Also, Zodak, originally called "Sensor" by Mark Taylor, was intended to be a good guy also, but was switched to the evil team by Mattel for reasons of team balance, after the original Sorceress and Teela figures were combined into just one figure, and Stratos was switched back to the good side, after the first mini-comic had already been drawn. Mer-Man was switched back to the evil side after Lords of Power, so he was evil in the first mini-comic. It's very complex.

I love learning more about new lines I don't collect. i did however buy a Skeletor in this line for my gf because for a while her nickname was Skeletor. DON'T ASK
  • @JBird401
Wow had no idea these jumped up in value. Good thing i own most of them. I found Tri-Klops and Ninjor just sitting on the pegs at my local Target

Mer man, she-ra, roboto and zodac are all getting another release on BBTS at the normal price of $18.99 each. so, those higher prices brought to you by scalpers will either go down or they may jack them up more.
  • @javi_gn
Webstor and Beastman are another two figures that increased their price, but the list is pretty accurate, I'm still trying to get Trapjaw for a decent price.
  • @80sToysRoc
Great video! Was pleasantly surprised at some of the going prices.
