I stopped smoking weed a long time ago. I got married, we had a child, and I started a business. I knew what smoking weed did to me, and it didn't fit into the plans I had for my life. Looking back, that was a good choice for me.
  • Weed actually does make you more creative when you first start smoking but after some time it makes your endocannabinoid system less effective which makes you less creative
  • I've smoked weed for 35 years, I've given up recently,I don't miss it. I loved it but it gets boring and it stops you doing lots of stuff that you should be doing. Makes you tired to

Everyone should take breaks and moderate their habits. Especially after they find that they are abusing something.

Love the way you explain why we feel productive and creative when we are high. It's just a perception and a false one at that. Thanks for sharing, I think sober life is the right pathway to follow our dreams

If you go back, you’ll start smoking daily. I quit for 12 years and thought I would smoke every once in a while. But ended up on the daily for 8 more. Stopped again 2 years, tried again and daily use again after a while. I love weed, but that’s basically the problem with it. On day 10 without now. I’ll try again when I’m 70 and have enough money for retirement - something to look forward to 🙂🍀

I smoked on and off for 20 years. Somtimes I would smoke every day for 2 to 3 months at a time and sometimes I would smoke 3 to 5 times a week( basically every other day on average). Even when I wasn't doing it daily it consumed my life because I would constantly be thinking of my next fix. I am 7 days sober now and I feel great. The first 2 days sucked but now I feel undeniable benefits. I have more energy, improved cognition and concentration, less irrittbabiliy, anger and depression, more stamina and most importantly a greater sense of self-worth. The best advice I can give is to replace your addiction with something else more heatlhy. I have increased my cardio as well as my cognition through a combination of playing ping pong, scrabble and chess. These activities are helpful to replace my dopamine which has been depleted. I must note that I already participated in these activites when I smoked but now I do so at a greater level. I am a residential mover and work starts to get busy for me in about a month. I can't wait to see how much better I will be with my newly improved stamina, focus and increased motivation.

For me after taking a break for 5 momths when i tried again i realized it wasnt even that great. I still smoke once a month or so, but it doesnt even feel that great, the next day i usually just feel bloated and hazy.

When I smoked every single day for 3 years, I lost so many jobs and so many opportunities and relationships. Now it’s been 2 weeks sober and I’m struggling but now I realized how bad I was and now I can’t find a job and I’m depressing more and more

I'm gonna be a week in tomorrow, did 7 months sober once in the past too. Terence McKenna said it best I think that the best way to use cannabis is infrequently, say once a week or once every two weeks, in extremely high doses and in silent darkness (alone). In other words use it as a visionary psychedelic or in conjunction with "true" psychedelics to explore higher dimensional realities. Putting the pedal to the floor with the ganja in this way has helped me to grow as a person much more than habitually smoking 24/7 😎

I smoked weed for 35 years and quit 17 days ago. After a week of being sick as fuck and not sleeping I finally came around and must say I don't recall the last time my head felt so clear. I never ate breakfast at all probably the last 20 years just was never my thing. Last week I started eating breakfasts now. I feel more motivated to do things these days and not sure if I will go back to smoking weed as I over do it when I got weed. Don't get me wrong I love weed and the buzz but even that wasn't happening lately which is one of the reasons I quit. Was only going to take a 90 day break to kill the bad habit but after getting super cyclical vomiting sick requiring a hospital visit for an IV bag and sleeping pills did I realize what weed meant to my body. I wish to be able to smoke the occasional joint and not ruin out buy an ounce and a quarter fo shatter for dabs. But when I do decide to smoke a joint again I cant wait to feel grade 7 high again. My smoking schedule was wake up smoke a bowl before work.. Bring shatter pen to work hit all day.. get home roll my 5 joints for the night. This routine got old and started getting expensive as I was now smoking more concentrates and infused joints just to try get high. I wish all those who want to quit the best fo luck. If I could do it everyone can I considered myself the White Snoop Dogg.
  • Thanks for sharing this experience. I have had the same results when quitting except for the dreams however my brother said he has alot of dreams when he quits. I found it interesting about the more creative part being a perception thing. Totally agree with your pro cons. Love the productivity when not smoking but get unmotivated when it comes to tedious ish. That's when thoughts come in to just take a puff. It helps me to take that puff but always found myself falling back into the nightly habit. Im looking at it as medicine these days which I believe is what it is intended for. Depression anxiety stress etc. Which I use to have alot of. Best wishes to you on your journey. You have inspired me to do more experiments.

I smoked for 18 years , it was great in the beginning n I smoked for depression then smoked cuz I felt like I had to then it started getting anxiety attacks, paranoid all the damn time, it was affecting my work n made me a zombie. Haven't smoked in almost 2 weeks n it sucks but I do feel somewhat better
