It was summer and I was in grade school. My neighbors backyard was blasting radio and a song called Running with the Devil came on. It grabbed my attention. I had no idea my mom had this song in her vinyl collection. By Junior High I went thru her vinyl records and put on the first VH album. There was Running with the Devil. Then ERUPTION. Then You Really Got me and on it went with side one. By the end of side 2 I was into Van Halen! I needed to find and electric guitar with a tremolo and distortion pedal with efx - like NOW! By Junior year Hihg School I had a guitar, with tremolo, amp and distortion pedal. Eddie really started to influence my approach to playing guitar. Not just tapping, dive bombs and harmonics, but how to write riffs and put chords together. To this day, the song Little Dreamer still has a special place in my heart. As a tribute to Ed after his passing. I decided to throw together a quick recording/video in memory of Ed. I don't claim to have his tone, his touch or even 1/10th his skills. I do have however, the memory of Ed and the boys from VH as the backdrop of my life and the happy memories their songs shared in my life. God bless you Ed and your family and friends and fans. You were loved then and will continue to be loved now and in the future.
