For those who are noticing the several derailments, this video was taken in the late spring as the park was getting reopened for the summer running season. The winter weather can be hard on the track, lots of frost heaves, pine needles and nasty little green pine cones, not to mention tree roots that like to grow right down the middle of the track. It takes several months of dedicated hard work by the all volunteer track gang to get things running smoothly. This past week I ran over the same route we filmed on without any derailments. Thanks track gang.

Wow. Thanks for sharing. Had no idea such a thing existed.
  • My wife and I "stumbled" across this museum while on a cross country trip in 2021. They just happened to be having an annual event that weekend, so we had a special treat. One of the owners asked if we would like a ride . An hour and a half later we came back to the station. The museum was just amazing in its size and detail. It was one the real highlights of our transcontinental trip.

We modified our vacation plans to include Train Mountain based on this video. We rode the trains today and had a blast! Thanks Mike!
  • I had no idea riding model trains was something that I wanted to do, but here we are!🤠🤠
  • Fun fact! The full size turntable at The Henry Ford museum in Detroit is actually able to be pushed by one person as well! It's crazy!

I would love to be the guy that brushes the tracks clean all day! Looks really enjoyable All alone and no drama and listening to my music, my favorite past time. 😊🚂

I love transportation!! Planes, boats, trains, cars, buses, trolleys, horse drawn carriages, and on and on. Appreciate people with a passion to keep a segment alive. At almost 74, if you say "go bye bye" i just go get a coat and never ask where or how!!!

That is one large small scale hobby. A coworker of mine had model railroad he called a garden scale railroad, but he only had about 6 acres. It was fun to play with. Thank you for the invite on this “trip” ! The re-railing tool was interesting.
  • This man spent his money on what makes him happy to whatever that degree is, other people will never understand this. I love seeing his inspiration for trains

Michael, this is awesome! I moved to southern Oregon almost two years ago now and 'Doh!' I didn't know this model train set-up existed. I've gotta go now and see it! What an amazing set-up and the acreage involved! Wow. Thanks Mike for bringing this story to us. :face-red-heart-shape:

You NEED to visit the Talyllyn Railway in Wales. It is the first preserved railroad in the world, and it has the two oldest running locomotives in the world. (Built 1865). They have started doing the annual Awdry Extravaganza in July to remember the man who helped the railway, and created the beloved Railway Series.

Ron seems like a really nice guy. What an awesome thing to exist.

Having a pretty crappy day.... This was exactly what I needed. What a beautiful bunch of people. Loved how much you got into it.
  • Riding the world's longest model train track is the closest I'll ever get to experiencing a real-life roller coaster without risking my lunch
  • @StonayBalogna
Never expected myself to get so into trains but boy you’ve done it. 😂 Great video as always, very entertaining and educational. Love it.
