The people that died were a couple (43 & 37) in the house that exploded, from blunt force trauma to the chest and their neighbor, a 29 year old woman, from compression asphyxia. So sorry for their families and friends. 💐
  • Evansville resident here. There's been a lot of theories thrown around about the cause of the explosion, from gas leak to meth lab. Our primary gas company (Centerpoint) investigated a few days ago, but came up with no public response as to what caused it. It's been amazing to see the community coming together to support the people affected. Our city has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons recently, first the escaped inmate a month or so ago, and now this.
  • Unreal. My grandmother is in a wheelchair temporarily. Found out the other week her wheelchair accidentally turned the knob on the gas stove. When I visited her, a really putrid smell was coming from inside. It was then I discovered her gas was on. Luckily no one was hurt. It’s crazy how devastating these explosions can be. RIP to all who perished.
  • I knew that this explosion caused damage to surrounding homes but I had no idea of the true extent of it. Freaking crazy.
  • This was only an 8 minute drive from my house! I heard it and thought it was a car wreck and thought nothing of it until my dad told me what happened after watching the news! I used to work with the wife of the couple who died in the house! I’m praying for everyone who lost family members, pets, or suffered damaged homes or now have inhabitable homes!
  • These guys are so professional and organized on such short notice. Well done!
  • Being a first responder to this sort of incident is freaky; there may be an even larger explosion waiting to happen
  • The power of that explosion and the debris field are jaw-dropping. Good thing there weren't any kids playing on that street. wow.
  • A married couple and their new neighbor died. How sad, may they all rest in sweet peace.
  • I live 3 miles from this unfortunate scene and I heard it. I have a family member who lives in the second house they cleared. He and his family plus dogs are okay. Very crazy! RIP to the three victims and their families.
  • I know the jury is still out on the cause, but this stuff makes me question ever having a home where gas is piped in. It's super rare that gas explodes like this, but when it does it's bad bad. And from the initial footage of the explosion seeing how slow everything happens does make me think this was a gas explosion. Too big to be a meth lab, and they would have found evidence of that right away.
  • It's crazy to see the aftermath from the explosion, and I felt the blastwave about 5blocks away it sounded like a semi truck crashed into something that day... but they're still investigating on what actually happened, I remembered 5years ago a house blew up. Evansville Indiana feels unsafe to live.... its absolutely sad
  • I was looking at photos of the area and it’s shocking how many homes damaged and destroyed. Special thanks to all of the first responders, and condolences to the families and friends killed.
  • Just lost my brother and sis in law on the 8th of June when there house exploded due to a gas leak 😔 they were 23 and 21 yrs of age
  • Incredible video. This is the kind of person you want doing this difficult job. From what's shown here, these people are trained well! Very sad for the people whom lost their lives & the those whom lost their homes.
  • I live in Evansville as well. It’s been a week and still no indication of what it may have been. Hard to believe it’s taken this long. Centerpoint went out and said there was no gas leak but everybody just wants to know what happened. Very strange. My friend was at a restaurant half a mile away having lunch with friends. Had he left at the time one of the guys left he would’ve been right there driving down the street on the way home. Thank God he stayed and chatted with another buddy. Five minutes later he took a detour to go home and he said there was still debris in the air falling to the ground. I just thank God my best friend stayed at the restaurant. There are no coincidences.

The selfness and bravery of these people speaks volumes.
