If SpongeBob is a soilder with PTSD that now works as a line cook.... that's about the most accurate portrayal of life after service on TV.
  • @Eterna7Forms
He wouldn't be a "former veteran" he would just be a veteran. Also given that Mr. Crabs also served in a large conflict it's not out of the question that Spongebob was also conscripted.
  • If Patrick was a captain in the navy maybe he got injured in a war and got brain damage, making him very dumb permanently.
  • @DeliveryTank
That explains why Patrick and Spongebob used forts, armies, jets, tanks, and even mechs while at the beach. Also makes sense how they easily picked up on how to fight using military equipment in the Sponge Out Of Water movie

I love these types of theory videos. Let's not forget in almost every episode, he has his snail Gary. What if Gary is actually an emotional-support pet specifically trained and/or bred for Spongebob himself when he discharged?
  • Going by this theory, it would be more likely that Bubble Buddy was meant to be an imaginary friend SpongeBob made that he gave the personality traits of his deceased friend into him in order to cope with their loss. However, as it turned out in the end, Bubble Buddy was actually fully sentient.
  • There were so many clips from “Full Metal Jacket” but there was no mention of SpongeBob literally quoting the movie saying “this is my cash register. There are many like it, but this one’s mine”
  • @keeeeez23
He’s taking all of the evidence out of context but he sells it so well and actually makes me believe in this theory lol

Also, SpongeBob knew the correct operation for the AA gun at the start of Sponge Out Of Water because he told Patrick what specific ammo to fetch. Maybe he manned similar guns in the war
  • Theory: There was a civil war in Bikini Bottom between mutated fish and 'ordinary' fish. The mutated fish attempted a hostile take over of Bikini Bottom but the ordinary fish rallied and succeeded in driving them out and into the trench where they made Rock Bottom their new home.

It could explain why Spongebob tends to perform well only at the Krusty Krab and not in any other job. He also memorized all the rules around the Krabby Patty formula's security, when he told Robot Krabs the formula rules. Then of course he likes to sing the Bikini Bottom national anthem in that episode. Stuff you don't have to do at work.

to add onto the theory, sponge bob behaves perfectly at boating school, this is probably because soldiers in wars have to engulf every piece of information
  • @Tehstampede
Very interesting theory. I was under the impression that Mr. Krabs was a navy veteran and had met Pearl's mother while serving. If Spongebob is a vet, he must have snapped HARD at some point to act the way he does now.
  • Another thing is, Karate was actively practiced by the US military post-WW2. They trained to do Okinawan Karate during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Spongebob's obsession with Karate is very likely from mandatory military training in Okinawan martial arts post-WW2.
  • I never got into SpongeBob probably because I was in my late 30s, early 40s when he came out. I am a Marine Corps veteran from the early 90s. This video is on point.

It's actually scary how these theories, despite the fact they may sound weird, can make so much sense by just re-watching the episodeos with a different light
  • @zigzagzipbag6561
Bubble Buddy sounds awfully a lot like Battle Buddy, which is a common term in the military. I don't say this often but I think this theory does hold water
