Welcome to Dakar, Senegal's capital city! When I told friends and family I planned to visit Senegal they all told me I was crazy and that West Africa isn't safe. I decided to find out for myself...

Dakar is probably one of the most modern and beautiful cities I've seen in Africa. I've seen many youtubers travel to Nairobi, Kigali, Johannesburg, Addis Abeba, Dar Essalam, Accra, Lagos etc and they all look kinda dirty and chaotic. Dakar in fact reminds me of the city of Salvador in Brazil that i've visited. But Dakar feels safer whereas in Salvador you have to be on your toes.

  • Thank you so much for this video. Hoping that more and more people will watch this cuz as a Senegalese im tired of educating people that think Africa has barely nothing like no history no food nothing. You just proved them wrong in 24 minutes that's why i can't thank you enough. Hope you visit more countries in Africa and in the world so that we can learn more love you! :)))

I spent 12 days in Dakar and Banjul last month. We were in many of the same places and many of your experiences mirrored mine in Goree Island, except for my being a Black American gave it a different dimension. We ate at the same restaurant also.
  • thank you so much for the history that you’re showing and your video. It’s very important that people don’t get caught up in what they see on TV or hear in some of these countries. But , to study and go out to visit and learn for yourself about the history, the people in many of these countries. This is a great video and I thank you so much for your time and effort that you put into it. It’s very informative.

Senegal was such a special holiday for me, thank for bringing back all the memories πŸ’š P.S. had the exact same experience at Goree being pursued by all the local sellers, even in the ferry πŸ˜‚ wonderful people nonetheless!

Amazing! Very well edited - quality is as always so good! And the video is packed with so much useful information! You did a great job and it could be that I this is my new favourite video on your channel! πŸ˜„ I do pay also more to help the local businesses - I don’t need to haggle for 2€ - it means a lot to them but is just a small amount for me. Such a sad history about the island, can’t imagine how it was back then. Horrible. I can’t wait to see the next episode!
