The FBI director's testimony on Capitol Hill provided new details into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

Federal investigators said Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from a roof near the rally, wounding Trump and two supporters, and killing a former fire chief in the crowd, identified as Corey Comperatore.

While testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed the shooter never used a ladder to get onto the roof.

Wray explained "we now believe that the subject climbed onto the roof using some mechanical equipment on the ground and vertical piping on the side of the building. He added, "in other words, we do not believe he used a ladder to get up there."

Investigators initially said evidence pointed to Crooks purchasing a ladder prior to the attack, but added that no ladder was found near the scene.

Wray also revealed that a post on a gaming website believed to be from Crooks prior to the attack was actually someone pretending to be the shooter.

The Associated Press reported that the gunman conducted a Google search of “How far away was Oswald from Kennedy?” about one week prior to the shootng.

Mike Harrigan, a retired chief of the FBI's Firearms Training Program joined LiveNOW from FOX's Josh Breslow to discuss the testimony and the overall investigation.

  • The fact that we still don't have a straight answer tells you everything you need to know

If FBI says it I know exactly what not to believe

Looks like the ladder was already there then. I'm calling it now, the ladder was put there by law enforcement who were guarding the roof and the shooter used their ladder to get on the roof!

Stopped listening when the guest praised Wray, who is a terrible, no good, very bad FBI chief.
  • @tandymiller775
Why would he buy a ladder and not use it, my question is, where is that ladder now?

DIRECTOR DID A GOOD JOB ??/WHAT He didnt even know if the gun had a sight on i t..He said NOTHING ..Yea lone wolf sure ok
  • @7t2z28
How he got up there is kind of irrelevant when it's clearly visible in overhead photos that there was a ladder. If he chose to climb up something else, he only made it harder for himself. The real question is why did he get as far as he did?

So nearly two weeks later and the big release from FBI is he didn't use a ladder to get on the roof. I think we knew that. Embarrassing. 🙄

Yeah yeah yeah this guy crooks was the real life Jason Borne according to the FBI he was the most amazing spy/assassin alive. Not at all possible that the Secret service allowed this to happen nope! Crooks was a bomb maker, international banker, drone operator/drone hacker, master communicator, hacked the coms of the secret service, as a matter of fact the only thing he seemed to be bad at was shooting.
