This tip is amazing !! I just tested it. And it works perfectly with the iphone, ipad, and ultrawide format (21: 9). It is not possible to choose the video format, but if you place any video / photo on the timeline the APP automatically sets the standard format (and also the resolution). I just spent several days making a compilation video for my son's first birthday. When I went to export it, I realized it was in horizontal format (despite about 90% of the clips being vertical). I foolishly assumed there'd just be an export option in iMovie that would allow me to export vertically, but NOPE. At that point I thought I was totally screwed and would have to start from scratch, but then I found your video and it totally saved the day! I was able to start a new App Preview project and copied and pasted all of the clips from my horizontal project timeline into the new vertical one. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I wished this worked for me, but I'm still getting the same ratio when I create an App Preview.
