  • I have nothing but love and respect for Joan Jett. When asked by the USO if she would do concerts for soldiers overseas, she said yes instantly. When the USO told her they would have her play in safer areas like Guam, she told them to put her in the most war-torn areas where the troops really needed her. She was willing to risk her life for our troops. Love that woman to pieces!

Every female rocker since 1980 owes a debt of gratitude to Joan Jett. She helped pave the way for a most female solo artists in rock. She was the first major concert I ever saw, and boy did she impress. So happy you have finally gotten around to this horribly underrated and underappreciated artist.

She may not be an amazing singer by most standards, but her voice sets a standard for what raw rock n roll should sound like. She fits her style of music like no one else can replicate.

Now you can understand why I had a huge crush on her in the 80's. Such a beautiful woman with an enormous amount of personality.
  • Joan Jett, was formerly co-founder with Sandy West of the all female band The Runaways, which also included rocker Lita Ford. Joan Jett with the help of songwriter Kenny Luguna, formed the band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and she went on to be a big female rocker of the 1980's. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts still active today, but Joan Jett is the only original member of the band.

For those of us a little longer in the tooth, Lzzy Hale reminds us of Joan Jett....Joan is still touring at 65, and still rockin' out. If however, you are interested in her softer side, her cover of Crimson and Clover is beautimus.

Joan Jett is FREAKING AWESOME in concert! This song just digs into the very feelings everyone gets when someone is so ohhh soo good, but they aren't good for you, but you just can't escape. Also, Joan Jett fought her way through the jungle and survived. She did so many things that were not supposed to be possible. Her stage presence is her earned armor.

When I was a shy 20 year old I saw Joan at a small venue and between sets I got to talk to her, it took all I had to make a pass, she just pinched my cheek and said “you’re so sweet”. So thanks for letting me down easy Joan, it took all the courage I had at the time to just speak.
  • @Heathcoatman
I actually met her back in the 90s at a small venue concert for a local band and she was super nice, engaging and had a full 10 minute conversation with me. She was very personable and had a total 'regular person' vibe.
  • @rswear
When I hear the phrase "Rocker Chick" Joan Jett is the image that comes to mind
  • @Dianaolympos
Something to add that even before being a singer, and continuously all along her career, Joan Jett have been a producer for bands. This is something you can feel in all of her songs. They are efficient, simple, but super well produced. Not like over produced, but tight, efficient and engaging.
  • @DaiseySnow
I saw her in concert before you were born, back in '82 along with Heart, The Teardrop Explodes and the headliner Queen. She was great, 'I Love Rock and Roll' was high in the charts back then.
  • @matthbva
I still remember the first time I saw Joan snarl these lyrics and her curl her lip in that leather outfit. Wowza! That was the day I became a lifelong admirer of female rockers... Joan, Pat Benatar, both Wilson Sisters, Lita Ford, right on up to Maria Brink and Floor.
  • @blakerbnsn
Joan Jett is a bad ass and has never changed her rock and roll roots. She is a true Rock N Roll Hall of Famer. Great Choice! You should check out the Runaways.....it was her band before she went solo.
  • @Badgerofoccam
I hate myself for never having seen Joan Jett or Lita Ford live. So many of my favourite artists owe so much to them and their influence.
  • @majensen70
The guitar and drum intro is just one of those iconic riffs that makes the song instantly recognizable and lets you know right off the bat that something amazing is coming and it doesn't disappoint - ever!
  • @gabrielkain1
Joan Jett is the total OG of women's rockers. She did the dam thing before many of others, and her music shows that rebellious attitude so well. I always enjoyed her vocals and music, not to mention she was in the Highlander tv shows, which makes her a legend.
  • @t.dillon5680
Joan!! She has been one of my favorite rockers since I was a teen - as well as her all-girl band the Runaways. She is such an icon to women all over the world. She just plays great, straight forward rock n' roll that everybody can sing along with & enjoy.
