Newbuild construction final inspection

Landed in Buckeye, Arizona for a Newbuild construction final inspection. Builder was not even ready even though they approved the date and time. What the heck are they thinking?

  • The lockout on the water heater is so the inspector doesn't turn the power on and melt the elements in it if water is not turned on.

lockout is only need if device is hardwired and not in view from breaker, range most likely has a nema 15-50 receptacle which makes it able to be removed/unplug during appliance repair.

Brand new custom built home built intentionally to upset the customer.

Why is that short length of pipe with the elbow (4:05) sticking up and going nowhere???
  • @trvrsln
Amazing what builders try to get away with knowing inspections would be coming
  • Good channel. Bad contractors. The range doesn't require a lockout device, the cord is considered the disconnect. Water heater needs a bonding jumper hot-cold-gas and hot and cold pipe insulation. The hose bib needs an anti-siphon.
  • Ok but if that was the feed pipes for the washer machine then where is the drain ? That stucco is thin. Sure if u went on the roof u would see a lot of broken tiles too.
  • What I've noticed is a number of trades have gotten an attitude of "Let the laborers clean up my mess, I'm out of here!"

On new build final inspections is there a set standard list that is followed to check or is it depend on state, county/city? I only ask because on our new build in michigan im still fixing things on our house in michigan after 3 years.

When longer hinge screws are used for more door security I have purposefully used different colored screws. It also lests someone in the future to know something is different.

You're expecting a lot out of a crew that was picked up from the Home Depot parking lot and beside the meth clinic each morning. Don't worry, though; the "builder" is getting very, very rich, because voters oppose accountability and regulation.

And that’s the reason why I want to build my own house, can’t trust builders anymore
  • What a drama queen. I would prefer the house be cleaned up before I inspect it, I don't like nails. What's the saying...those who can do, those who can't, teach or in this case inspect.
