HOW TO SET SYSTEMS INSTEAD OF GOALS | a system that will change your life
In this video I share why goals are incomplete and how to set systems instead. If you can get your habits, systems, and then goals in place, you can reach your dreams. If you want to reach your goals, you need to get your systems in order. This has been life-changing for me and I hope this system will change your days, weeks, months, and life as well.

✨ I turned this video into a planner!!! You can check out the 2024 Goal Planner + Visualization workbook out at: alexiskingsley.com/

📖 Chunk your year's intentions into quarterly sprints, monthly projects, weekly systems, and daily actions to go from just having good intentions to living an intentional life with the Intentional Planner.

  • This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my YouTube channel 9 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,738 subs and > 1k hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I appreciate how captivating her delivery is. Her body language, her hand movements, her emphasis when she speaks makes the value she is speaking that much more absorbable. Great work

Finally! This is the first time I’ve seen someone break the term “system” down. I have read so many books and watched so many videos and none of them touched on this!! Thank you!

I’ve never thought of planning it backwards—you’ve laid it out so beautifully that I actually think it’s doable for me!
  • Wow. This is the best goal-setting video I've ever seen. And I've watched a ton! Thank you for all this lovely detail.
  • @voicevamp
This is great ... However ... In ten years, I will be 86 years old! I really need to adjust the timeline. 🙃 Yes, you present really well. Thanks for this video.
  • Remarkably well defined and communicated. A lesson like this (and a coach like Alexis) would've been Transformative for me in high school; it has the power to transform the trajectory of one's life, and help them avoid wandering aimlessly through the years. Learning 'Systems thinking' and goal-setting is sadly missing from our education system. But with a video/lesson like this available to Anyone, it's never too late 👍
  • I was so invested in writing things down in my notebook that I was truly surprised when the video ended! lol I absolutely love the idea of scaling down the big picture dream/goal and makiing it a priority. Obviously creating habits to build routines to help you achieve goals isn't a new concept, but I can't recall too many processes where we start from the top and work our way down to the day-to-day, seemingly miniscule steps that will eventually help us get to where we want to be. You've got yourself a new subscriber, Alexis! Thank you for a great video.

Dear @AlexisKingsley, I would want to thank you so much for the work you did here. I am in the middle of watching your entire playlist about planning and I am learning with you how to chunk backwards from my life dreams to daily actions. I can't say I am new to systematic approaches. On the contrary - I am very into time management, energy management and all those techniques that changed throughout time. I rarely leave comments (unfortunately, because I know that's good for content creators), but I could not skip this gratitude step and leave one below this video. Having New Year approaching I needed to get to order from chaos that I had emerged in my life due to traumatic events that happened to me in 2023. I have to get myself out of dark places and get back to order and my dreams. Thanks to you and your clear and concise, very specific and informative videos (lectures), I was able to emotionally get back to order and internal harmony that are necessary for me to move on. Thousand times thank you and I wish you all the best in your future grow and all your endeavors. 💜🌿

Thank you! This video made so much sense. I feel I’m starting 2024 from a strong place, with action steps in mind. I’m a practical person so seeing a system which actually makes sense and guides you step by step really feels RIGHT for me. You got yourself a new subscriber.
  • Thank you so much for this video. I’m a mom with ADHD and have been having a hard time figuring out a system that makes sense and is simple enough to follow and keep. I love how since this is a system you can always come back and change the goals but the system still works. I also love that it connects the everyday tasks to life goals. I’m great at visualization but have a hard time working the steps to get there. This was an awesome breakdown!
  • @FancyLongLegs
So many people talk about systems yet never break it down in the way you did in this video. This was good, VERY GOOD!
  • I am so happy that people like you 1. Exist 2. Aren't afraid to dig deep inwardly 3. Are honest and can communicate the human experience for what it is and not what we wish it was. Keep doing what you're doing. Ni-Te can do incredible things when understood and used healthy and positively. Thank you.

Subscribed within the first two minutes. Extremely coherent, eloquent and intelligently presented - really stands out from the volume of content on here covering this topic. Great video.
  • @dmvmeu
I've been wanting a full video on this topic for MONTHS - can't believe I came across your channel thru mbti and now we're here! tysm for your advice
  • This is great! I’ve used backwards planning in my professional life by never thought to use it for my personal goals.
  • I've been a huge fan of your workbook and content for years. Glad to see the updated version of the book, just in time for my 2024 goal planning. I still have 2022's printed out on cards so I can take the prompts with me everywhere, but I'm happy to support your work and get the new one. ☺️ Happy holidays, Alexis!
  • 4:12 for people with aphantasia that can't work with a visualization exercise in the same way: Write a short story of this person, their life and how they got there. Or a mood board, a flip book, anything that feels like what you want to see. Make dioramas, paint and tag your dreams on walls and canvas alike. Write lists and brain dumps of keywords and synonyms. Bake cookies and use the icing to tell your story. Doodle scenes or write songs to sing into existence. Compose ballads on the electric kazoo. Plant gardens and make clothes. Cobble shoes or speedpaint memes in MSpaint. Write code or create a video game character. Visualization is not just pictures you can "see", but all the senses. Accessibility matters ♿
