I really love this beautiful song. There are many music videos based on this song, but my version is focused on the lyrics and deep atmosphere. Here I used the footage from «The Vikings» series and from the music video of Wardruna called «Voluspá». Peace and respect to Heilung and Wardruna, they are great musicians! Thanks for watching! I hope you will enjoy it!

Trust (English translation) Once sat women, they sat here, then there. Some fastened bonds, some impeded an army, Some unraveled fetters: Escape the bonds, flee the enemy! Then first I will chant thee The charm oft-tried, That Rani taught to Rind; From the shoulder whate'er Mislikes thee shake, For helper thyself shalt thou have. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then next I will chant thee, If needs thou must travel, And wander a purposeless way: The bolts of Urth Shall on every side Be thy guards on the road thou goest. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then third I will chant thee, If threatening streams The danger of death shall bring: Yet to Hel shall turn Both Horn and Ruth, And before thee the waters shall fail. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then fourth I will chant thee, If come thy foes On the gallows-way against thee: Into thine hands Shall their hearts be given, And peace shall the warriors wish. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then fifth I will chant thee, If fetters perchance Shall bind thy bending limbs: O'er thy thighs do I chant A loosening-charm, And the lock is burst from the limbs, And the fetters fall from the feet. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then sixth I will chant thee, If storms on the sea Have might unknown to man: Yet never shall wind Or wave do harm, And calm is the course of thy boat. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then seventh I chant thee, If frost shall seek To kill thee on lofty crags: The fatal cold Shall not grip thy flesh, And whole thy body shall be. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then eighth will I chant thee, If ever by night Thou shalt wander on murky ways: Yet never the curse of a Christian woman From the dead shall do thee harm. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Then ninth will I chant thee, If needs thou must strive With a warlike giant in words: Thy heart good store Of wit shall have, And thy mouth of words full wise. (I wash off the hatred of my enemies and the theft and anger of rich men.) Once sat women, they sat here, then there. Some fastened bonds, some impeded an army, Some unraveled fetters: Escape the bonds, flee the enemy! The bulk of the lyrics come from Grógaldr 6-14. The repeated chorus-like chant is part of the washing verse/spell from the Galdrabók (Book of Spells). Thanks to BeepBep for pointing this out in the comments and for providing a better translation. God damn…this is beautiful. I been crying all week after bad news at the hospital, but this video reminded me that I’m still here, and there’s still amazing things I need to see before punching out.

I’m a music snob and in my non professional opinion this is the best thing on YouTube

Heilung is so incredible in magic this type of music. I literally always feel like I am coming out of this world and enter a magic realm of the past. Love it!

To feel the breeze from the forest mist. And to be this connected to the earth without all these distractions. I wish.

Some modern folk don't realize how much hygiene was important to the people of Vik. In fact, we started visiting France just for the lavender. We even stayed there for a while.
  • I Hear the song with a good headset and a few seconds later i become goosebumps on my whole body. This is the kind of music i can feel completly.

The Orkney archipel with its Ring of Brodgar lies in the middle of the Norse culture and our celtic and pictish ancestors. Norsemen that left their runes in Maes Howe. Ravens that are magical and well known for their wisdom and intelligence. Skara Brae. Land of endless freedom of the north. Can smell the fresh air. Thank you Heilung for your music that is a trip for my heart to the places of the north.

It takes me away every time I hear it... So much power and goosebumps... My ancient viking blood starts to rush... My grandfather made a very long investigation where our roots were... He found out that our ancient family were vikings in sweden. I don't know why but it is making me strong and proud... When I was a child and teenager my parents always travelled to warm countries like Spain, Marocco, Thailand etc. This was never my goal. I always wanted see the north... With 18 I travelled the first time to Sweden and I was so impressed and it felt like being home... Now I am almost 60 and I visited all scandinavian countries uncountable times and Ireland too. Those countries are like a giant magnet for me... When I had left the countries I was sad and felt lost... About 25 years ago I bought a little house in Sweden and this is my home... My husband is from Senegal, West Africa, he was never outside of Africa when we met in 2005. Over the years I told him about our family and the past. He was very impressed and interested in it... When we were watching Vikings he said watching me was seeing me glowing and shining and he said he could feel that I am a Viking through and through... Our house in Sweden don't have electricity, heaters etc. It is like in ancient times and this is what we both love so much and we wouldn't change that...
