Lyrics:
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away

Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely
Nothing else to do but close my mind
I sure hope the road don't come to own me
There's so many dreams I've yet to find

Listening to Carole and James back in ‘71 is where I fell in love with my high school sweetheart and we are still together 48yrs.
  • @Thundergod-
Tapestry is simply one of the best albums ever. A true masterpiece....
  • They were better days then. Life was less complicated and folk were nicer. I miss those days. The world is so dark now.

The 70s had a true community of artists that respected and supported each other......it really was the age of singer/songwriters.
  • I am 70 and I stil cry when I listen to Carole King, Carly Simon , Jame Taylor, and Jony Mitchel.

I don't think we'll ever have music like this again. The 70s were amazing.

Just raw talent. No flashing lights. No gyrating bodies. No dancers in the background. Just three instruments and one voice.
  • Carol King doesn't get anywhere near the props she deserves songwriting alone she's in a class above most and incredible musician
  • I love when her voice breaks on higher notes. It's like the nooks and crannies of an English muffin.

Once upon a time, this is what songs were all about, and how artists performed. I'll take this over any new music today.

Im not crying, someone cut an onion. When i hear this song I'm in our old living room in front of the record player with my dad when he was still here. They don't make music like this anymore. So Far away

The "doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore" lyric is so candid and heartbreaking. Makes you think of someone who you love so dearly but just passed through your life.
  • I'm 19 and Carole's songs speak to me in ways that I'm sure will only grow as I get older. What a legend.
