Senegal opposition candidate Faye set to win presidential election

Published 2024-03-26
The winner of the presidential election in Senegal is expected to be opposition challenger Bassirou Jiomaye Faye.

His main rival, Amadou Ba of the ruling coalition, conceded defeat following the election on Sunday.
Faye is a former tax inspector who's pledged to tackle corruption and poverty as well as restore stability.
He was chosen by disqualified opposition leader Ousmane Sonko - both were released from prison before the rescheduled election.

Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from Dakar, Senegal.
