  • I ALWAYS FIND MYSELF COMING BACK TO YOUR NO BULL COMMENTARY ON THE CZ457. I ENJOY YOUR EXPLANATION AND YOUR OPINION ON 22 RIFLES IN GENERAL. THANK YOU JOSH FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND EFFORT PUTTING OUT THESE VIDEOS.
  • Because of your channel I bought a CZ 457 MTR 20" three weeks ago. Under a minute of angle at 100 meters with SK rifle match.
  • @Jesse-le9bh
Outstanding shooting as usual. Thanks for the video. Blessings

Good job brother! Exactly where I'm at budget wise. Keep on putting out the great content 👍👍
  • You have such a great understanding of words and an even greater understanding of great rifles and thankyou for your excellent knowledge of CZ 22 rifles.

I agree Josh. I have the CZ 457 MTR. I have installed a Harrell barrel tuner and it shoots outstanding using Norma Tac 22 and RWS Rifle Match. Great gun. I don't compete but I do enjoy shooting just under MOA at 100 yards and cleaning the rack on my KYL targets at 100 yards. Totally agree with your review of this rifle. Thanks.
  • Have been following your vids Josh... Purchased my Varmint MTR because of your great reviews. I've owned it a couple weeks now and I've put about 1000 rds through it so far. What a great shooter with the right ammo. I've adjusted trigger pull to about as low as I think the factory trigger will go safely... I've added some extras but not sure I could mention name brands of products I added. i.e. scope base, bolt knob, extended magazine release lever... I've been enjoying it a lot! Thanks again!!!

Good video. This is what I would buy starting out in NRL22. It's hard to beat CZ for the money. Every one of their rimfires that I've tried have been great.
  • @22LimaRomeo
Great Video, and solid assessment of this rifle. As someone who's run the gambit of rifles over the years for competition, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment about the 457!

I have a Brno mod 2-E built in 1988 still in mint condition it's a tack driver. They were called Brno before CZ. They are, in my opinion, the best.22 lr rifles you can buy.

CZ 457 Jaguar 24.8” threaded barrel open sights, so far groups penny sized flawlessly at 50 yards with Norma Standard TAC @ $5 per 50. No upgrades(yet), no scope just trigger adjustments so far. So impressed with it. Smoother bolt then the 3 different Anschultz rifles I’ve tried so far also. However I’m currently saving for a Anschutz 1710 Competition Classic HB 20” SS with threaded match barrel & optimized match chamber with two stage 4-7.5oz trigger
  • I have got just 457 Varmint and yesterday I finished benchrest competitions with 5 place for 71 shooters! CZ making brilliant rifles and even don't need to buy so expensive one like MTR! :) Greetings Josh!
  • @krajus83
Love your channel. Built my MTR around yours minus the barrel.
  • @setter55
Great vid, here in the UK, the MTR does seem to offer the best value for money out of the match chamber models.

Josh, another great video. Between you, Cyclops, and Eagle Eye I have been hooked! However, to be fair you should compare the groups with the stock MTR barrel against that Lilja barrel. You talk about getting the best accuracy for the least money, but you then put a $500 barrel on it. BTW my first outing yesterday with my CZ 457 Varmint (not MTR barrel) returned several sub-MOA 5-shot groups. Indoor range at 25 yards. I did swap the trigger spring for a 12oz spring so pull weight is less than 1 lb. Put an Athlon Helos 4-20x50mm scope on it. Literally several one-hole groups. My reason for saying this is to give others a thought to try out the CZ stock configuration before spending more money for "diminishing returns" like you say. They might try some bolt shims for $12 to improve accuracy if they are not getting great accuracy out of the box. I don't plan to compete but the fun of shooting tight groups is worth the initial cost.
  • I've owned multiple 457's both in 16.5" and 20", all of which had MTR barrels with the exception of a 17 HMR I used to own. I currently own a 20" LRP and a Bergara B14R. Both go for pretty much the same price here in Canada. If I had to recommend one over the other, it would be the Bergara. It's just slightly better at 50 yds, but it also allowed me to install a Remingting 700 style trigger which beats the CZ's trigger system (stock or aftermarket) hands down.

I purchased the CZ 457 Varmint model 3 years ago for $400. It has yet to disappoint, out shoots everything at the range. It favorite ammo is Aguila 22LR Standard, one hole groups are the norm!

Just build my first 457 precision to teach children scope calculations, goals is 300 yards for them to plink - CZ are great, enjoy yours :)
