My Grandfather Ed Simmerman played his violin at the hootenanny in the 1940 and earlier. I hear he was very talented . My Grandma made Quilts and sold them. Sara Simmerman. They lived in a log home outside of town and raised their family.
  • I grew up and still live there. My brother went to school at the old school. It's a nice place to live. Great presentation.

Beautiful place to visit our family started going there in the 70s. We would go and listen to real music for hours and hours. All most as good as the grand ole opera for talent and being super friendly. I hope to go back before I pass on

Thanks for visiting our little town of Mountain View, Arkansas. Enjoyed watching your video of some of our local highlights. Please do come back and visit during the peak season...and especially during our Ozark Fall Bean Festival (3rd weekend of October) when you can see our beautiful Ozark Mountain fall colors. Safe travels.

My father bought 2 dulcimer from there back in the 80s I believe. After he passed away I had them but not knowing how to play. Gave them to a man at the church I go to. He was really shocked because he saw the quality in them. Main reason I gave them away was so tgey would keep making beautiful music.

At 01:26 the restaurant on the right is called The Rainbow Cafe. They have the best fried pickle spears I have even eaten. That whole town is so much fun.

Excellent. Love love the narration explaining in detail what road you were on, the attractions etc. A lot of detail. Local chamber of commerce in small towns should use such an approach.
  • Shared this with my family - my mother's side of the family born, raised, and lived there. Many relatives still there. I think I need to make a trip there now! Thanks for sharing!

Pronoucesed Sill La More (Sylamore). and Blanchard Caverns is the Ozark Nat Forrest. Thus not being a Nat Park, it does not get the advertising, nor publicity as much. good video for former residents to see how things have changed over the years. I worked in the summer from school at the Caverns, from the 3rd day it was opened. They are a must, even though you do not get the longer tours that you did in the 1st few decades. opened 1973 summer.

Love. This. Place. If Andy Taylor was a real person, he would have left Mayberry to live in Mountain View.
