Join Golden Globe winner and renowned actor, producer, author and musician Johnny Depp and Origins Project director Lawrence Krauss for An Origins Project Dialogue, Finding the Creativity in Madness.

This dialogue is associated with a closed scientific workshop in partnership with the National Institutes of Health held to spark discussions of big, unanswered questions on how the brain and machines process patterns, aimed at understanding consciousness, intelligence, and madness.

This on stage discussion focuses on the humanity of madness, revealing Depp's experience and creative method as an actor who has portrayed such eccentric fictional and nonfictional characters as Edward Scissorhands, Hunter S. Thompson, Captain Jack Sparrow, and John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester while exploring and unraveling the intricate links between creativity and madness.

As unbiased as I attempt to be throughout this case, the more I watch and rewatch his many interviews, the clearer it becomes that he’s a genuine kind-hearted guy who has been taken advantage of by someone looking to take advantage of someone. No, he’s not a saint nor perfect. He’s just human. A remarkable human living a remarkable life.

Why do people think he is “crazy” or “nuts”?. He is more sane than most!! Highly intelligent even having left school early. He’s most definitely an old soul.
  • I wish Johnny will come out victorious from all the mess he is going through at this moment

My mind has just been blown. What an incredible man and massive heart. He needs to win this one. He is actually dealing with the true “ mad hatter”
  • @cazlaz
He is drawn to outcasts and portraying them as the humans they are. That is why we adore him.

Johnny Depp is truly one of a kind. A legend.
  • This kind of actor is seldom born. He used his childhood pain to turn into his incredible creativity. Hats off Johnny ♥️

May Johnny reemerge from this current horrific court case with justice. We love you Johnny.

It's kind of sad to look back at this interview, which was filmed two months prior to both his mum dying and his wife putting out a life-destroying lie about him, and to really see in him how much he's struggling. He's such a kind, gentle man who has flaws he admits to, which is a rare thing these days, and he's brought such joy and light to millions around the world who've suffered the darkness of this world. There's such deep wisdom there, and such self-deprecating humour, and to know now what else he's had to endure, it's heartbreaking. This whole interview has been beautiful to witness, delving into the mind and madness of Johnny Depp, and somehow coming out of it better than what was going in.
  • How lucky are we to be able to watch these amazing pieces of Johnny off the big screen. It's not his face. It's his mind that is just fascinating beyond any movie. We are so blessed to be slowly getting him back from the horrible places his toxic marriage took him.

He is the most unique man I've ever listened too, he is a Legend
  • After watching Johnny here I've honestly found a very deep respect for him. It has nothing to do with his acting, although amazing, it's his way of explanation of himself and his life. I think the man is a damn genius in his own madness and it's absolutely beautiful

I hope Johnny finds peace and healing. He’s sensitive and I believe he’ll find his strength after this terrible experience he’s going through. He has so much support and it’s going to help him. Love you Johnny. 💗💗💗💗
  • After watching this interview, Johnny Depp is definitely one of the key people I would want to attend a proverbial fantasy dinner party I threw if I had the dream opportunity. What a mellow, funny, serious, intelligent and beyond interesting guy!
  • @lynn3017
    I could listen to Johnny talk 24/7. I support Johnny 100% !
  • @patti_c5916
Super intelligent, kind, loving, sexy, Johnny Depp has it all. How could you not love him.🥰
  • @justmissy7415
He is the epitome of humble. A BEAUTIFUL man to behold...On the outside, he is loved for his looks and fame...On the inside, his heart and compassion compare to no other. His beauty cannot be mimicked or stolen. He doesn't even know the legend that he is- that's what makes him extraordinary.
  • I hate how he's been treated. I wish him all the happiness and vindication that he deserves.
  • @E4TA67
Whoa, this interview has completely enlightened my view of JD. He's brilliant. Never seen him open up like this.
