Ironically enough this did end up as their biggest hit

Ah yes, who could forget the classic Australian comedy trio Will Arnett, Jack Black and Edward Snowden.
  • 13 years later and I still think this is the best mash-up ever

This video is 14 years old (in 2024) and i still come back to it at least yearly. Love it! Many have done this since, but the Axis of Awesome was the first time I'd ever heard it.
  • Their biggest hit was just them pissing on the music industry for 5 mins straight.

Bet they never thought this would be used as evidence in a copyright lawsuit against one of the most famous singers in the world

My now husband showed me this video on our second date. He created a monster and has endured five years of me singing the wrong lyrics over other songs. 😂❤️
  • I am so glad that Ed Sheeran used this video in court to show just how many songs use the same 4 chord progression.

For those who want to know, the four chords at the I, V, vi, and IV chords of any key. The Roman numerals representing the note in the key’s scale (key of C Major would be C Major Scale). The lower case means a minor chord. So, in the key of C major, it would be C, G, Am, F. In the key of G major, it would be G, D, Em, C. In D major it would be D, A, Bm, G. It’s all in that order. It was the successor to the “turnaround” chord progression (same chords, different order of progression) of the “doowop” music of 1940’s and 50’s R&B. Just about any R&B (and most rock and roll) song from that era can be played using that progression (I, vi, IV, V). Unchained Melody uses that progression.
