Punkjack and Tycoon are the best characters in Geats. FIGHT ME.
  • The writers admitted that they cared more about "sticking it to the trolls" than actually writing a good show.
  • My biggest issue with the show is that if you didn’t like it, you were immediately labeled as a bigot or incel. That’s become my biggest turn off with Disney properties as of late in that you’re a hateful person if you criticize it. The argument has become dull, stale, and annoying at this point and all it does is put the actors in the crosshairs of legitimately terrible people like a shield as well as devalue the idea of a female lead or diverse property.

Recently, a literal old man became a Kamen Rider in KR Geats, and while short lived, had a major impact in the story.
  • I think the biggest problem I have with the show is that they don’t get She-Hulk. Why does Jen, at no point, ever have a moment where she realizes “Hey, I like being She-Hulk!”? It’s ridiculous!

What kills me about MCU She-Hulk is how self-centered, narcissistic, and vindictive is she. Sure the comics had instances of her being petty and a bit full of herself at times, but there was never a moment that I didn't believe she wanted to genuinely help others. The show version on the other hand, had to be goaded by one of her friends to even stop Titania in the first episode. And in the next episode, the moment things don't go her way she complains and suggests that she shouldn't have saved those people. That's not even mentioning her catfishing people, being hypocritical, shrugging off responsibility, and being unfunny in general. And the worst part about it is that the show never really calls her out on her shitty behavior. The finale is her rewriting her own ending and claiming that she's cool epic "girlboss" that doesn't need to change for "toxic dudebros."

I remember someone describing one of the major issues that the MCU is that it follows the style of comedy where you could pretty much have any of the central cast deliver the jokes and it would still be in-character. You gotta appreciate how Geats has all four of the main Riders as really distinct and heroic as a whole, even if they're jerks like Michinaga. It's kinda similar to Ryuki in that respect, although Ryuki had the fourth central Rider be an unapologetic psychopath (and incidentally one of the most memorable characters in KR history). Also while Kamen Rider doesn't have the same quality of CG as Hollywood stuff, I think toku has way better action at the end of the day because it's actual suit actors doing actual stunts on location instead of dudes in a sound stage getting fluffed up by CG.
  • Geats are based on the kitsune, a Japanese fox deity known for its trickster nature while Tycoon is based on a tanuki or the Japanese racoon dog, which in folklore tend to be more simple minded but excels in shape shifting (more popularly into a log) so naturally his main form is a ninja. Buffa is a hard headed (and kinda toxic) zombie bull, Na-Go is a bubbly musical housecat who yearns for the outside life. I love how in Japanese shows like this the motifs and themes are woven into the characters and their stories.
  • With Kamen rider it's still a Show targeted towards kids to buy toys, but they don't let that stop the writers from making engaging stories with deeper themes. Where as Marvel now feels like its being Made specifically to be marketed and Consoomed and don't seem to try to hide it. Both are mediums that have marketable merchandise but one doesn't let its Market stop it from telling good stories while the other doubles down knowing their fanbase will eat up whatever they're given because its MARVEL
  • Funny thing, I introduced a friend of mine to Kamen Rider because my character from our D&D sessions is pretty much Kamen Rider, so he had to watch it for research; he ended up enjoying it because, according to him, it brought him superhero fun again.
  • Man, Manga, your definition of hero is so spot on. I'm glad that there's still people out there that appreciate a hero in this age where people keep shouting how "villains/anti-heroes are sooo much more interesting than plain old heroic characters". Ugh... Drives me nuts.
  • @acemarvel1564
Correction They forgot how to care for the people who made them famous to begin with The fans And we haven't had more reasons to not believe them since
  • @inferior3199
The fact that people can't criticize a female character without having to mention that the reason isn't because she is a woman or having to bring up male characters you think were bad is a sad state of affair.
  • @Sir_Bone-Head
My favorite moment in the MCU was from the first Ironman, where Tony is sitting on a couch watching the news as a terrorist attack is underway, he sees they're using his tech, so he decided to suit up and fly out to take care of the terrorists, and destroy the weapons he created. I always loved this sequence since it was built up from showing Tony being a broken man hiding behind a boozed up playboy and learning what's been happening with his tech, and subsequently the world around him. I don't think the MCU is capable of doing anything to that level anymore.
  • @MyShiroyuki
Evil people are unable to make heroes because heroes kinda require to be somewhat selfless and good. These people mistake good for evil and evil for good so it shows with their heroes.
  • "Kamen Rider is a better show than she-hulk, FIGHT ME" no, no i don't think i will
  • There's a reason why the Kamen rider franchise is so beloved. Even though shows are a blatant toy commercial it's extremely well written my favorite out of all of them is Kamen rider Gaim. PLEASE WATCH IT. The person who wrote it is the same person who made Madoka Magica, Psychopass, and Fate Zero. If anything can convince you and you love actual heroes and Nuisanced antagonists that has a narrative that evolves with the characters. Thanks for anyone who read this.
  • Kamen Rider Geats and Donbrothers are making current Super Hero Time the best it has been for a while and I'm loving it! Love all the interactions of Ace and Neon, and everytime Neon's bodyguards appear
  • @Squiggles01
Tycoon had his ass beat hard in the early episodes, he's been tricked, he's been flummoxed, he's even been... Bamboozled. But even after all that, even those who tricked him take a moment of reflection and decided to throw him a bone. He is way better than this current incarnation of She-Hulk. And it's not me being sexist, the current incarnation of She-Hulk is well... Shit!
  • The thing that angers me about MCU She-Hulk, is that you can tell the show writers looked at the comics long enough to identify the basics of She-Hulk's character in the various runs, and then willingly decided to botch the execution of the concepts. Her desire to be a heroine and balance her professional life was in her first comics, while the 4th wall breaks and her newfound confidence in her sexuality was most notable in Byrne's run- and yet they decided to ruin it all for the sake of using her as a vehicle for preachy feminist talking points and their personal hang-ups. The show writers lack of legal knowledge caused them to relegate her professional life to the background to make it more of a romance drama, and while they understood that she was sexuality confident as She-Hulk they also never showed Jennifer lacking said confidence, plus her desire for heroism from the comics got turned into a selfish hobby for her. The characterization of She Hulk in 'Fantastic Four: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' is what we should have gotten, and she only appeared in that show for one episode.
