An Elizabethan hair style that is very comfortable and pretty. I've altered the hairstyle provided by dragonlady7 over in the LJ longhair forums. You have to have waist-length hair (or close to it) to do this hairstyle, just so you know.

I was able to to do this with a co-workers hair that was just below shoulder length and I used clip in flowers to hide the tails of the braids. She wore it to her mother's Easter party and got lots of compliments! This was a great tutorial!
  • Thank you for the excellent tutorial.  I don't usaully write, but you have such a great attitude, unbecoming personality and very clear explanation of what you are doing.  I hope you continue with you videos. I may need a few more inches to pull this off but I am going to try!

I used to have really long hair and also did historical re-enactment. This was one of my favorite ways to wear my hair for demos and I was constantly asked if it was my real hair. People seriously thought it was a hair piece because of the ribbon, but of course I couldn't exactly take it down to show them. :-) Watching your hair vids is making me want to grow my hair out again.

wow, thank god for your uploads , especially referencing the weight issue of long hair, now i just need to not be so lazy, i keep watching all your videos, loving them and then imagining taking them all out before bed, and oh gawd...... great work , and such a nice fun host.....thanks

I love this! I have been trying to figure out what to do with my long, stick-straight fine hair. Even pins slide out of it...so sewing seems to be the best option! This is perfect!

thank you for posting this! as someone with truly long hair (not the foot long "long" hair they have in hair magazines), it's so difficult to find hairstyles for it! this is beautiful and i'll definitely be trying it as well as watching the rest of your videos. thank you!
  • Wow, wow, wow! That is GORGEOUS! I'm going to get my girly group together to watch it. = ) Thank you so much for posting these informative videos! For year I've longed to find someone who could teach me hair dos! How amazing to have one in my own home via YouTube!
  • This is making me want to grow my hair out! This looks so gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this : )

I hope to one day have hair long enough to do this. I've never thought of using a needle on hair and doing hairstyles with ribbon has always been beyond me. Great tutorial.

Torrin, you are the reason I can do anything with my nearly knee length hair. I have learned so much from you and now I feel like my hair is a canvas with which to create wearable art. Thank you!
  • @EloraLiveZ
This is so great! I have very long hair too and I get tired of certain updos very quickly. Ive tried doing something similar to this before but I never thought of the ribbon! That would make all the difference. Experience surely knows best.  And this doesn't take long to do either. Thank you for sharing!

hey torrin, im most definatley trying this one, im obsessed with period type hairstyles, and i have very long hair (about mid-thigh) and im sick of just having to do the normal briad every day. so this will be awesome, and i have come up with my own creations with rope braiding, and four strand braids as well...all thanks to you :D so here's a major hug from me *hug* and a big thanks, i love your videos, your the best teacher for hairstyles for us long haired girls, on the net - liz

I absolutely love this hairstyle, it's SO BEAUTIFUL!

This was one of the first videos of yours I ever saw (about three years ago now!) and when I saw it I was so jealous because my hair was nowhere near long enough to do it. Today it suddenly popped into my head that surely my hair is long enough now (past tailbone) and oh yes, it is! I need a little more practice to get the braids positioned right and the ribbon looking neat but I'm so happy to have reached a hair milestone like this!

In addition to your lovely hair, the great ideas for hair-do's, and the simple, easy-to-follow instructions, I really like your bathroom. It's such a cool color. :D
  • @FangOfCadence
Slowly growing my hair back out into the length of your's. Chopped all of it off a few years ago and it takes forever to grow out! Love the style, definitely reminds me of Ren Fair!
  • @aveuch
