At the end of WW2, the World would lay divided between two great superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union. Both sides would stockpile nuclear weapons, with questions over how to use, control and eliminate them becoming central to the conflict. • I spent 6 years in the 1970's patrolling the border between West Germany and East Germany/Czechoslovakia in Cavalry and Armor Units of the United States Army. When the Berlin Wall came down I am not afraid to say I cried like a baby. I had lived through the cold war as a child in to adulthood and I never thought I would live to see the Wall come down and Germany reunited. This video brought back so many of my life memories. Thank you for posting.

I can't believe I just watched a 90 minute documentary about the Cold War on youtube. Loved every minute of it.
  • This is by far the best documentary I've seen, the narration, how its all divided into segments but somehow all connected to each other and telling just enough information to make us understand while not diving too much into it, its just perfection.
  • I might be late to the video but something very important about the accuracy of the video is how it doesn’t spend time trying to paint x side as the good or bad. It simply lists the provable facts and leaves the consumer to make the decision themselves.

I am a history teacher and this video is beyond excellent. My grade 10 students thoroughly enjoyed this video as it is presented in an approachable and interesting manner. Thank you so much for this video!
  • @rickb3650
Holy crap! This is the first time I've seen/heard any mention of Vasily Arkhipov in any English language account of the Cuban missile crisis. This single Soviet officer almost certainly saved the world and hardly any Americans have ever even heard his name. Bravo. Very well done.
  • It is not hard to imagine what the world would be like if the superpowers had spent all that money, manpower, energy, and resources toward humanitarian pursuits and constructive sciences rather than on the pursuits of war.
  • When you learn more in an hour than you have 20+ years, that's the knowledge in studying history to understand the world. 👏 Major props to the creator.

Can we please get this man a tv show, Netflix documentary, anything. Thank you for your work!
  • @nosnibor800
Truly excellent. I was born in 1953. I lived through it all and was a cold war warrior - an electronics engineer who worked in defence. This has filled in a lot of gaps. It deserves several viewings. Thanks for this.
  • Oh my goodness. I've taken courses in college that didn't explain things this well or tie events together as well either. Thank you. I've learned so much in just over an hour. Little yet significant things, such as what 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world actually means. I love your channel. You've never put bad content out, ever! This was the last video you posted, I think. Wish you'd have more content to publish.
  • @Obetv01
Excellent documentary. Like a real high quality history lesson. Thank you. Puts so much into context. If you were raised in Africa you missed much of the historical context of the 1st world because it was not taught in schools. The internet bridged a huge knowledge gap. My own awareness of the wider world started in mid 90's by which time, my job was taking me regularly into the post Berlin wall eastern Europe. It was truly an amazing time to witness the changes including McDonald's in Moscow. Sometimes, one can too young and naive to realize how close we are to history of civilizations. Thanks again for putting this documentary together.

Sir, this is by far, the most objective, factual, extensive (but still concise) and well research documentaries I have seen. Seriously, I figured documentaries like this were a thing of the early 2000s but you made this in the 2020s?! BRAVO! It is not ideologically biased like most "documentaries" are today and it is, again, so well researched! 👏👏👏
  • @AhmedalHijazi
Watching many documentaries and reading books and articles on war and conflicts has shown me that those in power see people as mere regrowing numbers, their suffering and murder is insignificant to them; achieving their plans through coups, war, inciting internal conflicts at the expense of slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people is unmatchably more important
  • I’m a retired U.S. Military veteran having served with a Reconnaissance Squadron in the European & Middle East Theatre’s. I also worked for the NRO for a period of time. I found this video to be very informative. My only input would have been to add the Geneva Convention Treaties of 1949 in your timeline. Since this documentary had a lot to do with war I would have thought these treaties to be of significance. ✌🏽

This man dropped a serious gem, and on April 1st, what a Chad!

I sent your channel to my Social studies teacher and she ended up showing it to my class and now my class enjoys social studies so I’m no longer that weird kid who enjoys the subject. Thanks for that.
