I admire Oprah's genuine curiosity for every situation..to learn something from it.
  • She handled this extremely well. The fact that she was able to address perspective knowing that although it wasn’t the best relationship, she acknowledged her mother doing only the best she knew to do with what she had. That’s how you’re able to truly forgive & from personal experience, that’s the place that allows you to start healing.

Not everyone has the opportunity to say goodbye. That is a blessing in itself.

I lost my mom when I was 10 and my sister was only 2. I never got over that. It's been 18 years and I'm still crying and missing her.
  • WOw , can anyone see how painful and distant her relationship with her mom? She still honors her mother💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Such a private moment to share. Thank you Oprah for this gift.
  • @jcextranow
She always makes peace with the ones she has had any type of conflict with and she's always very candid about her very personal situations.
  • Beautiful response to someone who didn’t show their child much love. Thank you O for bringing openness and vulnerability to the forefront.
  • @RichLux713
Wow she is so lucky she was able to get that closure

I lost my Mother just as I had given birth to my daughter. Bittersweet as her life was ending, my beautiful baby girl was born. She has so many of my Moms physical features and her quiet reserve. Best of all, my Moms wicked sense of humour! 14 years later, I’m still learning. God Bless you!
  • I understand because my mother had diabetes and was on dialysis for over 9 years. On the tenth year, she entered into the end stage of life. The doctor told her she had a year to live and my mother did not tell anybody not even me and i was her caregiver. During the last month, she selected a funeral home and she wrote notes to people to thank them for whatever part they played in your life. I got a chance to have that closing conversation with her. My uncle came and sung old school church songs and he prepared her quiet transition and she died the next morning at peace. I am thankful i got a chance to say goodbye before she passed.

Oprah's relationship with her mother was toxic. She may have forgiven all the hurts, insults, putdowns, beatings, etc....but she definitely remembers them. Saying goodbye to a toxic parent is much different than saying goodbye to a loving, nurturing parent. She will grieve, but differently.
  • Oprah is a national treasure. Any difficulty someone is having, with any topic at all - life, death, love, hate, togetherness, separation - Oprah has something insightful to say about it. Thank God for Oprah.

How could people not like this video. It's so sincere and heartfelt.
  • Mourning is a process. I'm glad Oprah and her sister had their sacred moment.

One thing's for sure, When Oprah calls, people answer! I'm glad that she was able to help her mom with a peaceful transition. My mom slept the whole day after Christmas and transitioned at 2am on December 27th 1983. I'll never forget it.

One of the most remarkable women who ever lived and I was privileged to have spent hours of one on one time interviewing her. "The light at the end of my tunnel is so brilliant it blinds me".....and indeed she knew!
  • Music is love it expresses what we sometimes can’t say ourselves
  • I don't know if Oprah will see my comment or not. I hope that she does. Before my son was deployed to Afghanistan we had a "bare it all" conversation. Why? Because "IF" he didn't come back from his deployment alive I wanted no regrets between us. Our conversation that we had was about anything and everything that either of us thought of. His life - my life - how he was raised - his thoughts of me as a mother - my thoughts of him as a son - all kinds of things! Neither of us wanted it to be our "last" mother/son heartfelt conversation and it wasn't. But we didn't know if something would happen or not and we didn't want anything to be left undone or not said. He did come home from his deployment with a non-combat related injury and died before the military could do the surgery for this non combat related injury 6 months after coming back. It was a TOTAL COMPLETE SHOCK when I got that knock on the door that EVERY military family doesn't want. Even though my whole life has changed since that day I know in my heart that he and I were good with each other because of THAT conversation we had before he was deployed. YES, I miss the heck out of him and think of him EVERY SINGLE DAY...but even at his funeral when my heart was so very shattered I had no regrets because we had had OUR conversation. So Oprah, my heart hurts for you with the loss of your Mom. Maybe she might come across my blonde (almost white in color it was so light) haired blue eyed forever 23 year old son and give him a hug. If she does, I know my son...he will squeeze her back so tight she'll have to tell him to be soft with his squeezing like I used to tell him when he hugged me. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and prayers to you, Oprah, from this Gold Star Mom.
