About Me: I'm Kyle Le and these are the places I've been, the people I've met, the foods I've eaten, and the many things that I've seen...Originally from Southern California, I moved to Saigon, Vietnam after university and lived there for many years. Then, I traveled the world finding and documenting stories of Vietnamese people living outside of the homeland. Then I finished my master's at USC and now... well... you're going to have to follow and watch to find out!

Growing up in Philly in the 90's as a nerd or geek was definitely a blessing for me. Gangs didn't want me. All I did was go to school, come home, watch weekday afternoon cartoons of Looney Toons and the WB...follow by Married with Children, Family Matters and Full House....thank god for TV for putting me into Asian Pride gangs...

Danny is right, the real fish sauce ingredients are simply anchovy and sea salt. I was a fisherman living in Nha Trang VN back in the day. We made fish sauce by adding anchovy and sea salt and leave it in the barrel for one year before taste it. The first state that come out is usually a good one it call (nước mắm nhỉ).

Oh damn thanks Son and Kyle. Dude I never knew fish sauce that we have here in the US is fake. I’m definitely going to look in to buying real natural resource. I will be looking for sons for sauce in the supermarket from now on.

Wow what a great interview! I learnt so much from Danny. I’ve grown up with the squid brand but after this interview I’m telling my whole family (extended family included) about making the switch to Danny’s brand or try any other authentic fish sauce proudly made from Vietnam. Just like he said, we need to have something great for Vietnam, our country. This also inspired me to share this and talk to restaurant owners and chefs at my local and fav Vietnamese restaurants. Thank you for producing great content Kyle 🙏🏼

I stopped buying squid brand because it was so cheap. I read my current fish sauce and it has anchovy extract as well as fructose and is made in Hong Kong. They cheated using the Phu Quoc name but they're not from Vietnam. I have bought Red Boat which is a premium fish sauce and saltier so you can use less of it. I didn't like the design of their bottle. After I poured it from the bottle, more would spill out and I'd have to clean it or it would smell. I'll have to search for Son's fish sauce. Great guest Kyle!
