In this episode Shawn Ryan sits down with Travis Kennedy, a former Navy SEAL, BUD/S instructor, and currently the CEO of KDS. We start off discussing the tension and unrest within the United States in regards to the President's response of an attack on US Embassy in Iraq to coordinate a drone strike on the Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. Shawn then gets into the details of Kennedy's broken home childhood, and how he overcame all odds in becoming one the United States' elite Navy SEAL Operators. Travis takes the audience into the details of what combat looks like as an elite operator. Shawn then digs into Travis's transition from military life to civilian life, how the FBI decided he was not a qualified candidate to work for the organization and how he moved passed that denial.

  • @JSMachine1
Travis smiling to hear his dad's voice and see that he is on the phone. That's good stuff. Lost my dad in 2003 and I wish I could talk with him again often.
  • Travis holding back tears hearing his father speak… these men are in a league of their own.
  • The DJ Shipley interview was my first. It was amazing. So I started at #001. Now here I am. Totally hooked. Great Job Mr. Ryan. Thank you for your service.
  • Solimani, man he got famous quick. Some would say, Even blew up overnight.

As a civilian It’s incredibly important we listen to stories like this so we understand the level of sacrifice while we go about our easy days thanks so much for this podcast and your service
  • If I saw him walking down the street I'd think he was a surfer/skater dude that just grew up. Would never expect he's completed some of the toughest military training in the world and did it as a green kid right out of high school badass! never judge a book by its cover
  • @Matt-uz9ee
Even though I wish Shawn would speak more about himself and his experience in the SEAL teams, I can appreciate how he's selfless and cares more about asking questions rather than talking over a guest. Not a lot of hosts do that. Awesome

Shawn, your interview technique (demeanor, cadence, knowing how to remain silent when it seems too quiet for too long, etc.) just gets better with each hour on camera. Really, really good. You’re a natural. So great to watch these long interviews!

This dude looks like if Tony hawk decided he wanted to learn to use an AR 15 instead of kickflip
  • @johnjackaman2040
Law enforcement agencies not wanting SEALS is because SEALS are too qualified for the job. They`d make the law enforcement officers look stupid.

My name is rich observed 20 yrs in the army as a scout, doing reconnaissance I loved. Served 4 tours in iraq and was combat wounded in 06 in diyala province. 05-06 your in diyala was tough for all in iraq during that time. I also served in baghdad for 15 months as my squadron commanders personal security detachment pl as an E-7 promotable, when I made E-8 I moved into a first sergeant position in 08. I have much respect for these guys as I spent almost 50 months in iraq total.

We would have to live 7 lifetimes to get a chance to listen to these Guys for 3 minutes... Vigilance Elite gave us 3 hours. Thanks Man.
  • @That1ThatHasIt
When it comes to Soleimani, if any other president (Democrat) would have made that call, they would be hailed a hero by the media as well as one of the most important, brave, and patriotic men of the modern free world.

  • Watched this one like 10 times now. Shawn has no ego, puts the guest in the spotlight and asks all the questions we’re thinking, or at least what I was wondering about.
  • @cryptocleigh2172
