One of the best conversations on the podcast so far. Bucs Head Coach and Super Bowl champ Bruce Arians talks with Colin about when he was Peyton Manning's first QB coach, Peyton's prankster reputation, the similarities and differences between Tom Brady and Peyton, how Brady instantly changed the Bucs' culture, how winning the Super Bowl has changed Bruce's life, what he considers a fireable offense for his staff, why he was onboard with adding Antonio Brown, the reason he and GM Jason Licht work so well together, what Patrick Mahomes did during his pre-draft workout that blew Bruce away, and why he decided to un-retire and get back into coaching. He may not be as good of a tactician as Bill , but he is way better in people’s skills . What a great personality . It great to see good people succeed . Go BA , this Patriots fan root for you!

“You don’t get that time back. Go to the game. We’ll cover it. Make sure you do everything with your kids” man if only all bosses were like that!

What I see this year is Tom Brady emotionally bonded with this man. Already deeper than his bond with Bill because Bruce values him in an overt way. Healthier and happier.

In all my years rooting for the Bucs, Bruce Arians has become my favorite coach. He just exudes confidence and swagger. A perfect personality for a Buccaneer.

Bruce is a great leader, he allows his coaches to coach without micromanaging them

As assistant coach not being listened to. Now head coach/manager listening to his whole team & players. Mandates work life balance. Good on him.

This is a really solid, genuine, and engaging interview. Effing well done. BA is smiling with his eyes almost the whole interview.

What a duo, one of the easiest, best interviews I’ve seen. It’s like they are old buddies

He is such a likeable coach! Absolutely love him, and this team is something else! Everyone just loved being there!
  • “ don’t ask me a question if you don’t want the right answer, I don’t give a shit who you are” Love that quote

That was a great interview. Glad you asked questions that allowed his heart and soul to come through.

As someone who’s spent 20 something years watching Bill Belichicks press meetings and the occasional interview with Patriots players I have to say it’s a breath of fresh air to watch the Buccaneers! Getting to see interviews with a coach who says what he’s thinking and constantly praises his staff and team has really made me understand why everyone looks at the Patriots as the most boring team in the NFL. I’ll always be a Patriots fan, I’m still a little sad we didn’t get that 7th ring with Brady to become the first franchise with 7 but I can honestly say I’m happy Tom made the move to Tampa and gave me another team to root for. About 5 minutes into Tampa’s opener last year I realized I’d never have it in me to root against Tom no matter what team he was on so I’m just enjoying the ride, I think I might be a Pats/Bucs fan from here on out.

It is a special time for Buccaneer fans. The city of Tampa loves our gridiron warriors! The Super Bowl celebration in February was not approved by the city until 8:30 pm the night before the boat parade. Hundreds of boaters packed with fans escorted the Buc players down the river as many thousands cheered from the banks of the Hillsborough River !!! Very special time to be a Buccaneers fan :-)

12:46 When BA talks about what makes an elite NFL QB, he nails the exact reason why Tom is GOAT. The prerequisite mental talent to be an NFL QB should not be diminished or overlooked. Media figures really like to say, "Oh that guy is WAY more talented" when referring to physical talent, but the media always overlooks the mental talents associated with elite QB play. Tom may not be as physically talented, but man does that guy have one of the greatest minds to ever play the game, and that's the most valuable talent for a QB as stated by BA.

Gifted interviewer Colin, and so well done. Hope the NBA listens to you, as I am pro employee, but they cannot run the show.
  • That section about advice for young qbs and being able to process information quick is like comparing two equally skilled people playing an fps: one running on a 4K 60Hz monitor vs the other on a 1080p 240 hz monitor.
